3.5lbs a week weight loss? impossible??

Anyone lost a good 3-4 lbs a week continuously ? Surely if I lost 3.5lbs a week which seems a decent possible amount then it would be a stone a month ? But is it even possible or has anyone out there ever lost this much in such a small amount of time.

I've lost 3 pounds a week for the last 4 weeks... Not sure if I can keep it up though 😂

I think it would depend on how much you had to lose.

You won't lose that much for more than a couple of weeks and only if you have a lot
To lose in the first place

How much do you need to lose?

Someone at my group loses around that rate, she has lost 3.5 stone since joining in January but she has a lot to lose and she follows the plan 100% which for a lot of people isn't going to happen.

Personally - having lost over 6 stone - for me a slow and steady no pressure approach worked better!

Anything's possible, depending on what you're doing, but why would you want to put that much pressure on yourself? Weight loss is tough as is, setting lofty goals is just that much added pressure, and will make you feel that much worse if you don't reach it.

I'm 5ft 4" and 13st 5lbs. I go on holiday in August approximately 12 weeks and would love to lose a considerable amount before I go. When I'm on plan I'm very strict and focussed but still enjoy it . I don't feel I restrict myself and enjoy the process and effort I have to put in but obviously I love to see the results too.

Strict and focused is one thing, but how do you handle it if you don't reach your goals?

Our bodies are odd, so a diet can make you lose 4 or 5 lbs one week, but then .5 lbs or nothing the next 2. Are you going to 'fall of the wagon' if that happens?

I've been losing about 3lb a week following their speedier plan where you increase the proportion of speed food on your plate and have extra healthy extras. It'll be in your book if you dig around for it. Maybe try that?

I am your height but had 5 1/2 stone to lose when I started, I lost an average 3lbs per week for the first 12 weeks but only cause I have so much to lose and I was 100% dedicated. Since then it has dropped to about 2lbs per week- still 100% dedicated but losses do slow down the closer you get to your ideal weight.
SW is not really designed to be a crash diet rather a healthy way of eating.
Losing lots of weight very quickly does tend to have a rebound effect
I would suggest that you should aim for a steady 2lb a week loss (anything above that will then be a great bonus) and take up some exercise to tone up and make the most of your new shape.

Thankyou everyone fitfatty I'm generally ok when I don't get the result I expect A bit miffed but very honest with myself to where I might have gone wrong or what I can change. If I don't have a loss the week after when I've made changes that's when I think fuck it come off plan and eat things I shouldn't Shock And end up where I am now. Suppose I'm just so desperate and wanting a quick fix but a healthy one don't we all. Sad

See, it's TOTALLY normal to have a week with no weight loss, or even a slight gain. It's HIGHLY dependent on where we are in our cycles, among many other things. This is why I suggested more realistic weight loss goals. When I used to diet I tried to aim for monthly goals (would weigh myself after AF was gone) and I would measure myself as well. I think weekly goals can get a bit frustrating.

Healthy weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint, but you can do it. Good Luck. ;)

True I think I've wrote my original post out of feeling desperate I'm so fed up and just can't see the goal in sight unless it comes quickly . My first day yesterday on plan was amazing and I feel amazing for it today so hopefully this time round will be the last time. You are right though and I should just be happy and proud for whatever I lose as long as I'm going in the right direction . Thanks guys Grin

If you feel your goal is too far away, set a smaller interim goal to keep you on track. I've got a LOT to lose and would never stick to it if my first goal was my final one. I've struggled to get to my initial goal as it is!
