DH and I love "picky bits" for dinner on a Friday - cheese, cold meats, olives, pate, more cheese, and of course, crusty bread and wine. Just one of several reasons I am now 3 stone overweight! Wink

I don't want to feel like I have to sacrifice everything to lose weight (nor should DH) so I'm hoping to do a low syn version. So...my ideas so far are limited to free cold meats (ham, turkey?), smoked salmon, roasted red peppers from a jar, tomatoes roasted in balsamic. Anyone any other ideas? What about a vessel on which to transport these items to my gob other than bread or crackers? Please don't say lettuce leaves Grin

Peppers stuffed with cream cheese? Could use your HEA for this or syn small amount of the cheese.

SW scotch eggs.

For a 'vessel' could you maybe get some of those Chinese pancakes (like they use for crispy duck)? Don't know syn value but wouldn't have thought it would be too high.

Also try googling 'slimming world picnic foods' for some other ideas.

Maybe a couple of nice slices of bread toasted and cut into small triangles or soldiers. Could be HEB or count the syns.

Ah, just saw you said no bread. It could be workable though.

Aw, hello folks and thanks for your replies. Alas I did not log on after about 5pm by which time I'd already decided what to have. In the end I sliced an aubergine lengthways and roasted (with frylight). Roasted cherry toms in balsamic and mixed both together with roasted red peppers from a jar. Sprinkled a little feta over the top and it was bloody lovely. Also had smoked salmon. And er, two massive slices of crusty granary bread with butter!!! And 3 large glasses of red...naughty me. But I have to have a Friday night syn (or 80) or else I would go mad. I find it fairly easy to be low syn or syn free during the week. And will get lots of walking in as well and hope for the best! Shall.keep your suggestions in mind for next time.
