I'm supposed to be joining tomorrow but I'm having a major panic - what if I chicken out? I want to do it and more importantly, I need to do it but I've got a lot to lose, like 5 or 6 stone - is it possible?
I know it won't happen overnight but we've booked a holiday for August, only in the UK but I can't go looking like this, so please inspire me!
Come and slap me and tell me just to get on with it. I'm going to be sat in the car park tomorrow bricking it. I'm going on my own sad
What if its not friendly?

I need to man up and just walk in there tomorrow and just get it done, don't I? It can't be as bad as I am imagining!

Do it! I joined on Monday night by myself and I have 4 stone to lose, the leader was really lovely and so friendly. There were a lot of people there by themselves and it wasn't so bad because you get given your pack so while people were chatting I just sat and read through everything. I was so nervous but it wasn't embarrassing or shameful and everyone is there for the same reason.

I must admit I've struggled to get going with the diet but that's because I have a major chocolate addiction! I've done a lot of walking today and am feeling more positive so I'm giving it my all tomorrow.

I have a huge family wedding in June and I really don't want to be the fat relative confused

They are so friendly in the group I've joined. I joined last Monday and feel better already. I've got 3 stone to lose, a friend of mine has lost 5 since last January. She's doing amazingly!

Buttwing Wed 06-Jan-16 22:22:40

It will be fine don't worry. What's the worst that can happen? You hate and never have to go again. But you won't, everyone has been a new member and knows how it feels and it will be friendly. It's a great week to join as you won't be th only one there was 15 new joiners at our group tonight.

I started a year ago and wanted to lose 5 stone I've got a stone and five lbs to go. I've done it slowly because I've had holidays, nights out and chosen not to stick to it on those occasions. There is a woman at our group who has lost 8 stone in a year!!

Go for it you can do itsmile

You can still have chocolate OP. A curly wurly is 7 syns. Just factor it into your day. The good thing about SW is that you never have to be hungry. Do a big shop and fill the fridge and make sure you don't get hungry between meals.

giraffesarefab Wed 06-Jan-16 22:43:14

Thank you all - amazing buttwing I darent even dream being 4 stone lighter next christmas, well done to you!

I know you are all right, what's the worst that can happen?
Fingers crossed for tomorrow then.

Can I report back here? I will join the support group, I might need a hand or two.
Thanks.

I lost nearly 6 stones in a year and just over 2 the next to lose 8 in total...and the only reason it slowed down was because I was being a bit rubbish with it.

They should be really friendly and welcoming and if they're not, don't join, find another SW group because they're doing it wrong.

Hiya, ive joined , stopped going so many times, but the first time i go back im still nervous, nervous of what i dont know as its a friendly group, amazing support and at the end of the day we are all there for the same reason! So let tomorrow be the new you and i tell you when you come from group you will be buzzin to go home, plan your meals, read your books, see what you can eat etc.... i rejoined last week and i want to loose about 8st, i set a target of loosing a st at a time therefore the journey wont seem so long, im quite exited about my first weigh in as ive had a good week. Best of luck to all of us, who has taken the steps to change our lifestyle xx

Good luck today! I am a week on to the programme-1.5 kg lighter than last week.

Haven't been hungry, I'm eater much more healthily.

giraffesarefab Thu 07-Jan-16 07:39:13

Wow tabulah that's just amazing, you are my inspiration!!
Well done to everyone, I'm going to go for it! I'm beyond scared but I need to make the change.

Wish me luck, I'm in at 9.30am. Eek.

emmaluvseeyore Thu 07-Jan-16 10:00:48

I've probably got around 10 stones to lose (wow, that's scary), but I'm breaking that into smaller chunks. My first goal is to get to 100 kg from my starting weight of 130 kg. I'm around two thirds of the way there in 8 months. I would be closer if I'd stuck to it a bit better over November and December. I'm down 2 dress sizes and feeling much better already.

Lickitysplit1 Thu 07-Jan-16 10:25:58

Self sabotage!
I know this only too well. I don't have too much to lose really, but I was reading Paul McKenna I Can Make You Thin (really recommend actually) and he talked about self sabotage. Setting yourself up to fail, to save yourself the torment. Getting the failing over quickly, as we are so used to 'failing' to drop the weight, or give up smoking or whatever. It really hit home with me.
You deserve to be happy OP, and lose the weight! Go for it.

deli1976 Thu 07-Jan-16 10:28:43

1st weigh in and 7.5lb off really happy about this and got my first sticker, happy days.....have a good day all xxxx

Buttwing Thu 07-Jan-16 12:56:35

How was it giraffe? smile

FlopIsMyChristmasGuru Thu 07-Jan-16 12:56:58

Hope it's all gone ok. I think the first meeting is the hardest. I joined last June and have lost four stone and have another stone to get to what I think will be target (ice changed targets as I've gone along or I'd just get overwhelmed by the amount I needed to lose)
Onwards and upwards (or downwards!) to you now!

giraffesarefab Thu 07-Jan-16 13:01:11

Wow deli, amazing start, we'll done you!

Well I've only gone and done it! I joined this morning and everything was fab, everyone was so friendly, there were 18 new starters just at my session.
I'm just sitting down with a jacket potato, salad and tuna while I read my books.

Aprehensive but feeling ok.

GravityLucy Thu 07-Jan-16 13:07:15

I see I am late, but I was going to say don't be nervous as there will be a load of fellow new starters this time of year. Good luck with it, you can definitely lose 4 stone.

deli1976 Thu 07-Jan-16 14:34:45

giraffesarefab Thu 07-Jan-16 17:46:27

We were singing at our group today, " it's a kinda magic"! It's fun and there's a fair few characters there I think which should make it fun. I will join the support thread, just trying to get my head around it all.

giraffesarefab Sat 09-Jan-16 17:38:30

Wow well done tessie, you are all amazing! Today has been my hardest day as the weekend are usually my munchy days, but I haven't strayed so still happy.
Dh just gone to mcd's so I'm having a grilled chicken and bacon salad (no croutons or dressing) for 1.5 syns and a box of micro chips which are 3 syns so all is well :-)
