I started slimming world on Monday but feel like I am eating too many carbs.
Today I ate two bits of nimble toast for breakfast with 1tsp of low fat spread (1syn) with half a tin of beans.
As this was early this mornng. I ended up eating two Muller lights, a small pack of frazzles (5.5 syns) and some strawberries.
For lunch I had pasta in sauce (free?). Before tea I snacked on another Muller lighy (need to stop the temptation) and a lolly (2.5 syns).
For tea I made a massive free cottage pie and had a HUGE serving with loads of cauliflower on the side. Also a little cheese as a healthy extra.
Does this sound good enough?
I feel like I've eaten too many potatoes with the tea..

Potatoes are free so you can fill up on as many as you like.
The problem you have is. You are not eating enough Speed food. With each of you meals you should have at least a third of your plate with speed. Even if it means adding some spinach. With your pasta you needed some salad etc... And the same with the cottage pie.
If you fill up with the vegetables and speed then you just won't feel the need to do the snacking.
it looks ok but the junk at breakfast could be better - try eating something like eggs on toast with your beans and a tomato. Fill up with more protein at breakfast and you wont need to snack on mullers.
Your appetite will adjust itself on SW.
You need to aim for at least a third of your plate to be vegetables/salad to boost your weight loss
Depends how much you have to lose, I wanted to lose 1.5 stone and was told to keep sync under 5 a day to help or it would take ages
I have breakfast very early as my daughter gets me up at 4.30am.. I usually skipped breakfast and just had lunch before SW.. So I will have a long stretch until lunch then again until tea as my other half gets home at 7.. and I don't want to cook twice.. I find the long stretches hard. It wouldn't be so bad if I could keep myself busy going for walks, meeting friends etc. But the weather is poop and my 6 month old is under the weather. So I am stuck at home allll day with the temptation to eat.. lol!
There is nothing wrong with snacking in between meals, but you should be reaching for the speed foods first. Try having a load of snacks in the fridge pre-prepared so you can just grab them when needed. Things like carrot sticks, pepper slices, pineapple chunks etc.
Personally I've stopped eating Muller Lights as they don't fill me up. I'm much better off eating fruit, veg or ham. I prefer using my syns on a less artificial tasting yoghurt!
You can absolutely eat as much as you want, but do try and get in as much speed foods as you can do as it really does help boost weight loss.
Agree you need more speed foods. For snacks, try something like lean ham with some veg sticks, or a chicken drumstick (no skin) or make some syn free hummus to have with veg sticks. If you really want a muller light (I hate them) you can add in some speed food by chopping an apple and dipping it in the yogurt, or adding some berries to it.
Add veg to your cottage pie and have 2 types of veg on the side. I like to put the veg on the plate first to make sure I am definitely getting a third of the plate!
I'm a great fan of homemade free soup to fill up on if I get hungry. I often take a flask as well as my lunch to work for an afternoon boost, and if I'm home all day have a pot on the go. I change flavours/ recipes depending on what needs used so it's cheap n cheerful. That and fruit fruit fruit! My fav at moment easy peel oranges, can eat 5 or 6 a day so glad they're on offer at moment in shop😀
As I understand it, snacks should be speed food and not just free stuff. So muller lights are a bad choice for snacks. I have a huuuuuge appetite , as in I could probably polish off a full bag of pasta in one go! Put I know I'm obviously am not goi g to lose weight doing this, even if it is 'free' , I think we still have to behave and be mindful of portion control. Eating until we are full and not stuffed to the rafters.
hello! im on my first week too. Also not had enough speed foods, though am finding my feet and it's sunk in now (day 5!) im going to have a gammon steak and just loads of veg or salad to make up for the lack of other speed foods today...
are muller lights free? I;ve found liberte yoghurts are nice (1 syn) and contain a little sugar, no sweeteners, which tastes lovely I think.
good luck. I've had so much protein (and free carbs and, to be fair, veg) that I cant believe i'll lose anything. however, I've eaten loads healthier than normal this week so that's got to be a good thing and a good start!
Hi I've just started
Today I had a sachet of porridge for breakfast with skimmed milk and raisins in it
For lunch I had butternut squash soup which had carrots and leaks in it and some cold leftover roast chicken to dip in, I also had a banana
For tea I have a piece of basa fish steamed with slice of lemon, homemade chips cooked in the oven with fry light, marrowfat peas and carrot sweet corn and pea mixed veg on the side
Does that sound ok??
Breakfast - you need to ensure a third of your plate is speed foods, so add some speed fruit. Was the porridge sachet one that counts as a B choice? Otherwise you will need to syn it. Raisins also need to be synned.
Lunch sounds great, as long as the soup was homemade (most commercial soups are high in syns but there are a few that can be used as a B choice).
For tea - don't forget that peas and sweetcorn aren't speed foods, so unless the carrots took up a third of your plate you need to add more speed veg! Perhaps swap the peas for green beans.
It does sound complicated but you will get the hang of it!
So yesterday for breakfast I had mini shredded wheat with skimmed milk and banana and a handful of berries
For lunch I had homemade cottage pie with a bit of cheese on top, broccoli and mushy peas
Snack I had two satsumas
Tea I had porkchop grilled sweet potato wedges cooked with fry light massive salad with cucumber tomato sugar snap peas
Dessert j had a muller light yogurt then in evening as peckish I had some raw carrot

Today I've had 2 small pieces of whole meal toast with tin of beans and some sugar snap peas, for lunch I had homemade butternut squash carrot leak soup and then muller light with berries, and for tea i was going to have a pasta and sauce the tomato and herb one with a salad and sprinkle of cheese but feel like I'll be having too many carbs in one day
If it's free and you have at least a third speed...eat all the carbs you want.
I feel so bloated tonight and don't feel like I'm loosing weight! I've been drinking loads of water and feel like I'm eating ok but belly looks realy bloated and sticks out
Today for breakfast I've had
2x weetabix skimmed milk and canderel
Lunch - leftover pasta with tin of tuna and mayo ( will use as syns) and salad with red yellow peppers cucumber lettuce and fat free vinagerete
Tea - sticky chicken with egg fried rice spring onions and broccoli
Does that sound ok? Feel like overdoing carbs again!
Also I'll have to use syns for the honey with the sticky chicken won't I
Yes, you will have to syn honey. Did the broccoli with tea make up a third of the plate? That will naturally limit the amount of rice.
I am not loosing Not sure where I am going wrong except I think that I am eating too many free food as snacks in between main meals.
Are we not meant to eat them "freely"?
Yes as long as your hungry it's fine to eat them I believe. Are you drinking enough water as sometimes that makes you think you are hungry when you actually are thirsty. I lost 4 pounds but then weighed again this morning the day after and put 1lb back on I can't work it out! I know we shouldn't weigh daily but I always do lol
Yesterday I had melon and porridge for breakfast, for lunch I had bacon, eggs, tomatoes, fried potatoes (no oil) and beans, then mid afternoon I was peckish so had some raw peppers and carrot, for tea I had steak, sweet potato wedges and a massive salad with lettuce tomato cucumber peppers and spring onion. My syns for the day as a bit of mayo, a Freddo and one mini meringue with yogurt
