Shock at weight gain during period

I was being very careful (had one flexi day when I met someone for lunch but still didn't go overboard), then my period came last week and bam! I went up 3lbs fsad

My overall weight loss was only 10lbs at that point so I was suddenly down to only a 7lb loss due to my period.

I know that this happens and I am now back on track (the extra 3lbs have disappeared) but I was a bit shock as I wouldn't usually be scrutinising my monthly weight gain / loss.

It was a bit of a bummer tbh.

Does anyone else have similar a experience to share?

I want to get my head around the fact that this will probably happen every few weeks angry

I usually gain between 2 to 3 lbs. I always look forward to the following week's massive loss grin

Yep, I had exactly the same. Left SW because I couldn't stand the sharing of what I'd found difficult and why I'd not lost.
(Or perhaps it's just that I'm weak-willed)

Yes I was the same that week. Often put on 3lb. I put it down to water retention. And not the huge amount of chocolate I eat to deal with ones

I always gain or maintain that weight (though I'm doing WW) it's so annoying!

I also always gain or maintain that week. I put on 0.1kg this week because of it, so hoping to lose that and more this week. I'm only 0.5kg away from losing 3 stone, so hoping for that!

I maintain that week, know it's coming so am extra lean on everything.

I got to target the week before my period last month, the following week I rocked up to club having had another good week and sashayed up to the scales. I'd put on 4lbs. To make it worse, the lady on the scales shouted "4lbs?!?? You only hit target last week! You'll have to pay next week!!" I thought I'd totally had a good week, but it took me two weeks to lose it. I'm convinced we all subconsciously eat more the week around our period! Have heart OP and try and look at loss month to month, not week to week.

I've never gained during my period, but I don't tend to get food cravings, just pain and an increased dependency on coffee.

I don't get food cravings either. It is just the period itself which means I gain. I think I must retain water or something.

I do crave. I'm due on in a week and all I can think about is food!

It's such a downer at that time, as even if you know it's water retention, you still feel 'fatter' and it affects your mood! I hate that time of the month. It's such a relief when it all drains away the week after grin

Well, my period came on Christmas Eve, haven't stopped eating and drinking and am due to weigh in today (forgot to do it first thing this morning at my lightest). I am just about to have a mince pie and cup of tea, then will do the weigh in. Not going to be good news blush

When I used to do calorie counting I would gain around 5-7lbs just before my period and I knew for a fact I had stayed within my calories! It's all water. I'd pee like a racehorse a couple of days in and it'd all be gone again.

My boobs go to about twice the size just before a period , they are like that now. I am always 2 or 3 pounds heavier in these days pre period.

I know I'm years late replying to this post sorry 🤣🤣 but it's all Google given me when i ask 🤣🤣. I started slimming world 8 weeks ago lost 5.5lb first week then 1.5lb then didn't go 2 weeks but went back and still lost then had a gain of 2.5lb which set me back I was gutted but kept going and out blue lost 5.5lb I still don't know how so this week I just needed 2.5lb to get stone award I went today and all set to get my 1.5lb off and got coufgt in rain I was soaked a d also on my monthlys 😣😣 I put on 1.5lb I was devestated but hoping next week will show double as my clothes weighed hevey cause rain . I just need this 1st to help me go further 😣😣

I reckon you’ll have a big loss next week, I’m on slimming world too and either gain or maintain the week before a period or the week of period. Don’t be too hard on yourself you’ll get that stone next weigh day
