Bearing in mind, I've not done SW since 2002 and I'm not currently able to get to a group to ask, I was wondering the following:

Can you still do red/green days?

If you happen to hate veg, could you do EE if you ate 1/3 super free fruit just before the meal?

If so, which fruits are super free?

Thanks in advance Smile

You can still do red and green days, some of the recipes refer to that, but that isn't what they are currently talking about so I can't help I'm afraid

Thank you anyway. Also, just realised I asked 3 questions... Oops. Keen to rejoin if I can do the fruit instead of veg trick but if not, it might be a bit tough unless I do green days. Hmmmm...Confused

You can now eat meat and potatoes and pastaand what not together, with no limit (providing no fat on meat) its so much easier than it used to be. I did it 9-10 years ago on the red and green, I found it difficult choosing between the two.

And you don't HAVE to have superfree foods in your meal, I actually don't eat that many superfree foods and its working well for me so far.

That sounds amazing - so if I wanted, I could have steak and sw chips (no veg) all free??? Woah!

You can indeed. A lot of my dinners are just meat and sw chips. I like to sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper on my chips before they go in the oven, yum!

The idea of the third speed is to make you feel fuller so you don't eat enormous quantities of eg steak and chips whereas if you don't have the speed veg you might naturally eat more of the steak and chips. You don't have to do the third speed but it boosts your weight loss, without it it might be slower but that's all. If you can also do small portions anyway without the speed that's good too.

I hate to piddle on your slimming world chips, but I think a meal is only truly free if you have 1/3 speed food and stop when you're full. They word it carefully but it does include this in the plan booklet, as a sort of disclaimer I think. This includes your seconds if you have extra helpings. You might be lucky and lose weight eating only free but not speed foods, but in the long term many people would find their weightloss would slow down or plateau. The people I know with the best weight losses consistently have a lot of speed foods as snacks and with meals. As pps have said, it makes you full and lowers the overall calorie count of your plateful. If you don't like veg whole, why not try a bowl of soup before each meal?
