I got married earlier this year and since the mad diet on the lead up, I've really let my diet go, resulting in 1 excess stone and what I feel is a bad attitude to food (either starving for days or binging)

So any tips? Doing 1st shop later xxx

I've got my first class tonight so no tips unfortunately but I'll report back. Got 17 pounds of baby weight to lose - all I seem to eat is biscuits, chocolate and cake so need to cut back loads.

Good luck!

Buy the best quality fruit you can afford as you'tpre more likely to eat it

Don't buy low fat /diet biscuits as they are full of sugar

Buy plenty of salad stuff, veg etc

Hey we could be buddies. I'm about 17 pds too, I have always followed a high fat / low carb diet when I've lost weight before so I really need a whole new reeducation. What's your diet plan for today? X

Thanks river, I really hate the idea of low fat stuff as it's just filled with the artificial stuff but thinking I will have to go for low fat yogurt / cheese. Rest can be fresh x

Yes Botox lets buddy up!

Today I have had scrambled eggs with ham for breakfast, lunch is going to be chicken salad and no idea what's for tea. There's loads of fruit in the house so will snack on that. I drink LOADS of tea and coffee so that probably doesn't help - will be interesting to see what Slimming World says about that.

I think SW recommend Total 0% Yoghurt so maybe pick up some of that when you're at the supermarket x

You can have tea and coffee you just have your limit on milk and use sweeteners instead of sugar. Ive been doing SW half arsedly for 18 months now and am back on it at the moment. Ive lost 1stone 6 and have another stone to go. Want to lose 8lbs in 4 weeks!

I have lost 2.5 stone since January.

You need to have a HEA which is a cheese/ milk choice.
A HEB which is a bread/ cereal choice.

Then meat, fish, pasta, rice, vegetables are free.

15 syns.

Come and join us on the food diary thread in SW topic. SmileSmile

I started a week ago. You don't need to eat low fat crappy stuff.

I get fat free strained natural yogurt or skyr, and eat full-fat cheese in small quantities. Lots and lots of fruit and veg (more than you think you will eat) lean meat, fish and pulses.

I have some stuff with sugar in - liberte yogurt is nice, and has a small amount of sugar rather than sweeteners.

I use syns for higher fat but healthy foods like olive and coconut oils, nuts, and seeds, olives, and things that are sweet but delicious like medjool dates, dark chocolate and occasional ice cream. Also wine.

Jasper - yours sounds like the approach I want to take. I really dont like low fat crappy substitutes and feel that healthy fats are an important part of eating healthily. I will never Syn half an avocado!

I avoided Slimming World for years as I was worried about eating too many carbs. The more I have the more I want! But it's not carb heavy. The emphasis on fruit and veg is good. I like that I can have pasta, rice or a baked potato or new potato. And even chips if I want.

I use my Syns for wine usually.

Someone I know has lost almost 4 stone on SW very steadily at about 1 or 1.5 a week. She has never gained.

When you think about the SW approach it is basically how people used to eat. Home cooked healthy food - 3 meals a day and occassional treats like a piece of home baked cake. Not the constant exposure and consumption of crisps, sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks and alcohol.

My take on syns is that I aim for 50-70 syns a week plus an avocado.

30g of cheese is actually quite a lot of you use it as an accompaniment/flavouring. In the situations where I've had it with soup or a jacket potato, it's been more than my usual serving. It's small as a cheese course/ bread and cheese based meal/sandwich filling though.

Botox I found in the first couple of weeks I felt really bloated and uncomfortable how ever it did settle down. I put it down to the radical change in diet, my diet I'd so much better now I don't eat lots of low fat stuff just loads of healthy things cooked from scratch.
I am trying to lose my baby weight too. I've had 4 dc and the last two were very close together leaving me with 5 stone to lose to get back to my pre children weight of 9 stone 10. So far I've lost 3 stone 2lbs I'm determined to be at target by my babies birthday at the end of oct so hopefully it will have taken me a year to lose 5 stone Smile

Started a week ago and am doing it from home. Been strict with not weighing myself and tomorrow morning is weigh in number 1! Eek! Have felt bloated and (as DH pointed out ????) a bit windy ????!!
I want to lose just over a stone. Should I expect to lose a lot in week 1? What's everyone's average for week 1?

Report
calzone · 29/07/2015 22:25

I lost 9lbs in my first week but realise that is not common.

A few people on weigh in tonight lost 2.5lbs in week 1.

Report
CillaSlack · 29/07/2015 22:42

I lost 5lbs in the first week but have seen some people lose 8 or 9. I lost 10.5lbs over the first 3 weeks.
