I signed up to the online plan lastnight. I am super motivated, I have 2 stone to lose, I'm exercising like a loon but it's not budging... So... Here I am, commiting to something new, have just spent £60 on 3 months membership snd I'm totally overwhelmed with all the info on the website! (And extra easy- is that a separate plan altogether?)
Is this normal? Does it get easier when you get used to the free foods, etc? It seems like it's not dissimilar to my current diet but I'm not losing weight so obviously I need to be more prescriptive and really watch the small stuff but the website is saying go ahead, eat what you fancy out of this lot! So where is the catch? Surely all these carbs can't be good?
I just feel like I need to make a start on it but not even sure where to begin! Would really value some advice and/or reassurance that it's an easy plan to get in to...
It's really really simple. Honestly. The only tricky thing I've found is having to constantly prepare food. I've been rubbish lately but when I started I lost loads of weight & still got to eat chocolate every day!
The idea is (I think) that the carbs you can eat unlimited amounts of are ones that are very filling so you naturally don't eat too much of them even though they are free.
Breakfast is the only meal I struggle with as I don't like eating early. Good Luck & I hope that's helpful. It really does work!
Start by making sure you understand 'superfree' lists most fruits and veg, and 'free' lists meats, carbs. You're meals should be at least 1/3 super free. From there everything becomes easier.
It's actually pretty straightforward and easy to do, it just takes a few days of getting your head round it to start with.
Extra easy is the eating plan, one of the reasons it's mentioned so much by name is that there used to be 3 eating plans and they've only recently changed to one.
If you do it properly with a third speed foods...while the free carbs are still free, once you've added whatever you're having with them and the speed foods, it isn't all those carbs if you see what I mean, but yes you can eat them and still lose weight.
Use the food diary, make sure you're keeping track of your syns, weighing your a and b choices and you will get used to the free and speed foods fairly quickly and then it is really easy and you honestly won't understand why it seemed so complicated.
It seems overwhelming to start with but really isn't.
What worked for me was to have my A and B choices for breakfast, ie cereal and milk, then eat free food all day.
When putting food on your plate, put super free first so that it fills at least one third of your plate, then everything else after that.
Read through the info on free and superfree So that you know what to eat most of and work your meal plan around that.
Plus, write everything your are eating down in your diary.
Thank you- wow so many helpful comments already! Have read all the lists, so will perhaps print them out and put them somewhere obvious in the kitchen. Have been compiling my ocado shop for tomorrow morning full of lovely free foods- I guess that's half the battle, isn't it- getting lots of stuff in so its easy to stick to! Thanks so much... Thanks Annie, that's great, really helpful. Am sort of getting to grips with it now... Will take a bit of getting used to like anything I guess. Am planning on having boiled eggs with asparagus for dinner, mouth watering at the thought! (That's presuming eggs and asparagus are "free" which I think they are?!)
Anyway- work will be harder as I usually bring (bought) soup- will maybe have to make some, this weight loss business is time consuming isn't it?!
My DH has to take packed lunches so eats his HexA and HexB at lunch - a wholemeal
Roll and cheese, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, salad. 3 pieces of fruit.
He eats his free at breakfast (omelettes) and dinner - he's veggie.
Occasionally he eats cold pasta at lunch too.
Yep eggs and asparagus are free.
There are some soups that can be B choices btw, I don't know which ones, but there are definitely some.
Some of the baxter soups can be used as your healthy extra B I think.
The weather is quite warm, so you could make an enormous vat of soup, freeze it in small containers or bags and take it straight from the freezer to work, with a Tupperware box.
green that's a good idea, thank you. Might get on with the soup making this weekend! I think maybe a couscous or pasta salad would be good two. So far so good on day two. I suppose the first week is always the hardest- changing, adapting to new habits without the knowledge of whether it's going to work for you or not!
I feel like I have eaten like a queen today- just had a lovely pork, courgette and spinach stir fry with soy and a little teriyaki with brown basmati, and a big bowl of strawberries, cherries and watermelon for pudding... Where's the catch?
Might I be the first person ever to put on weight on slimmingworld, at this rate?!!
