First week loss?

Hi all,

I joined slimming world with DH on Saturday. It's our first time doing it, he has 2 stone to lose and I have 8 in order for us to get Ivf treatment.

I'm really enjoying the diet so far, But I am worried as I feel like I've not been hungry and eaten much more than normal although no chocolate cakes crisps etc all healthy pure foods.

I'm worried I won't have a very good loss this week. What's the normal for week one?

Thanks!!

There is no "normal" as our bodies are all different and we all ate differently before going to Slimming World.

Feeling that you've eaten too much to be on a diet is quite common. But despite this, most people with a few stones to lose manage to shed quite a few pounds on the first week. I say "most" because some have a small weight loss and some don't lose anything. The key then is to stick with it and talk to your Slimming World consultant if the weight doesn't start to come off - they'll know of common errors that might stop you losing.

Remember, though that big weekly losses are usually mainly water and a weekly loss of any sort is good and taking you in the right direction. For some of us losing weight slowly is more sustainable.

Great start! I've found SW a relatively easy diet plan to follow and have been at target for about a month now. It's just a car off sticking at it.

Oops! Case of not "car off"

Brilliant start hun x

In first week I lost 0.5lbs, next week 2lbs, week 3 - 0,5lbs and finally in week 4 (this week) I lost 4lbs.
I was so disappointed, I was thinking that in first week(s) I'll loose a lot of weight.
But at this stage, I know that exercises, any kind of sport activities are the key to loosing weight.
This week I started to walk, few minutes almost every day and it paid off.
I just came back from over an hour walk and feel so good :-)

Good luck with you journey love :-)

One of the best things about SW is that you shouldn't be hungry on it. Try to think of it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet. Although I am only 9 weeks in, I plan on sticking to this method of eating for the rest of my life! If you think of it as a diet, you are probably going to put all the weight back on if you stop it (that is what happened to me when I did it 5 years ago).

The food you should be eating should fill you up a lot better than all the crisps, chocolate, cakes etc, and should have a lot more vitamins and minerals you need. I have had chocolate a few times since I started, and I actually don't really enjoy it now. I went from eating 2 bars of Fruit and Nut a day (!!) to struggling to finish one of the Dairy Milk Little Ones bars. I actually ate one of those over two days recently. I would much rather eat a bowl of strawberries to satisfy that sugar craving. I can sit and eat a whole punnet of raspberries at lunch time now!

Well done for your first weeks loss - I had a disheartening few weeks recently (sustained weight then gained 0.3 kg). The key is to stick at it, write down what you are eating and look out for those hidden places you may be going wrong. That worked for me and I lost 2 kg this week :D
