I think it all depends on how quickly you want to lose weight and how much you weigh to start with. If you haven't got much to lose I'd stick with less than 10 but if you have a lot I would have up to 15. I try to stay below 10 but I won't beat myself up if I have 15 as I know they are there.

I'm new to it as well and stick with 15. You need to count carefully, for example if you have cereal and milk for breakfast you have to count each time you put milk in tea after that, so they soon added up. Same goes with bread- only one portion a day so if you have toast at breakfast then a sandwich at lunch, you have to count the second portion as Syns.
Thank you for your replies. myother well done on your weight loss, 3 ST is roughly what I'd like to lose. Tomorrow morning is my first weigh in, so hopefully I will have lost. The first couple of days I used 12 syn's per day, but after that I didn't really feel the need for so many. So since Tuesday, I've used 6/7 per day. But the main thing is, I haven't really struggled at all.
