Had some tonight for the first time, took ages to cook but really yummy

I par-boil them for 5 mins first. If I don't, I find that the outsides burn before the middles are cooked. I cook for 25 mins on 170.

I put mine in the microwave with beef stock, drain it and then stick them in the oven as usual. Tastes a bit like chippy chips. Yum.

I turn the oven to as high as it will go for the last 10 minutes to get them to brown.

mum11970 Mon 15-Jul-13 12:01:31

I boil them first, then whack the oven up full blast to get them brown and crispy.

I do mine in the wok - I cook everything that I frylite this way. also like to have little cubed potatos done in the oven with garlic and rosemary. way better than chips!

I've been known to put mine in the frying pan with FryLight, if there taking to long to brown and crisp.

Panadbois Tue 09-Jul-13 08:23:21

So, how long in the oven?

holidaysarenice Mon 08-Jul-13 23:51:17

MamaChubbyLegs Mon 08-Jul-13 20:35:42

We just had some. They were pale and floppy, bit still quite yummy

Panadbois Mon 08-Jul-13 19:57:34

I do suspect the ones in the mags are fried!

BearPear Mon 08-Jul-13 19:51:37

I had some with my tea, they were very pale but perfectly edible. I agree that I would a bit more colour & crispness, but I was hungry and couldn't wait another 10 minutes!

BikeRunSki Mon 08-Jul-13 19:43:55

Panadbois Mon 08-Jul-13 19:38:25

sydlexic Mon 08-Jul-13 17:33:25

Use a ridged tray or pizza tray, respray with fry lite half way through cooking.

Panadbois Mon 08-Jul-13 17:09:44

has anyone ever made these as directed and have them turn out as in the photos?

They take hours to brown when I make them. Top tips anyone?
