Standing up in the cot at sleep time! How do I handle it?

My ds -14 months has just started to stand up in his cot and throw his favourite teddy on to the floor at sleep time.

I have heard this is a phase but how do I handle it? Should I keep going in to settle him? He has never had trouble settling himself before now.

Please help!

I am the past master at standing babies (after starting a similar thread and getting lots of advice on MN!). My DD has just gone through this phase. I found that leaving her for 5 minutes then going in and lying her down (and repeat till the crying stops) worked a treat. Now she either doesn't stand up or lies herself down. It took a few days. Good luck!

Tie the a muslin around the teddy and tie it onto the cot so if he throws it out it can be dragged back in.
Need to tell them to lie down, it's bedtime - leave cry for 5mins then go back in do same thing then leave wait 10mins go back in - keep extending the time before you go back in.
My daughter went through this stage, thought it would never end but it was just a week.
Good luck

I ignore my DS who has just starting doing this. He lies down eventually.
