DS seems to be waking more now his room temp is sometimes as low as 17 degrees. he wears a cotton sleep suit and sleeping bag 2.5 tog.
Should i layer him up with vests/tops, get thicker sleep suits, put blanket over or put heating on at night?

from what i remember i had to get my dd a bigger tog sleeping bag as there is risk of overheating if you layer sleeping bags with blankets - i think?

try a vest underneath (start with short sleeves and go long if you need it) - tis safer than putting blankets over the top and you shouldn;t need the heating on

I second using a vest under the sleepsuit.

How old is your ds? Mine used to wear vests and lovely fleecy sleepsuits in their sleeping bags. Once they were a bit older (about a year) I put a blanket over the sleeping bag as well.

We layer DS up, and on very cold nights he has a thermostatically controlled oil-filled radiator on in his room as well.
