dd2 is 3mths old and although i lie her on her back foot to foot as is recommended, she instantly rolls onto her side and goes to sleep! i try to put her back onto her back once she is asleep but she always turns back onto her side and sleeps really well. she always turns herself round a bit too so she is laying across the cot rather than down it iyswim! she is in a sleeping bag so no loose covers but is this ok with regard to SID and is there anything i can do to help her, she is such a good sleeper which i am very grateful for (dd1 was awful!!) but i don't want to compromise her at all, she is in her own room in the cot (our room is far too small for her cot unfortunatly

thanks in advance

I know they say to lie flat on their back, but my DD screamed with colic for 7 weeks and only slept with bed blocks under her cot or propped up on the side. As she grew she made up her own mind on how to sleep. Now at 3.5 yrs I find her in all sorts of interesting arrangements in her bed in the morning (often face down). Think we all have our own preferences re. sleep and if she's doing it naturally then it must be comfy. Not sure on SIDs, but don't we all worry about that whatever they do? I still stay in DDs room when she had bad colds for fear of it.

I think sleeping on side is fine. My dd had the holy combination of reflux, colic and feeding problems and I got her to sleep with a rolled up towel next to her, on her side. Worked a treat.

thanks mama

sorry didnt mean to make you , i know i am very very lucky!! if its any consolation dd1 was a terrible sleeper until about 18mths so i do really appreciate the nice long sleeps now! i'm sure as soon as teething/cold bug/growth spurt comes along it will destroy this lovely sleeping pattern tho!!

llynnnn not really jealous but ds (8 months) is up nearly every hour atm and 11.5 hours just seems like my idea of Heaven

The advice is for new born as long as possible, once they start moving around on their own there is not much you can do to stop them. My daughter liked sleeping on her belly and still does at 5.
