Sleep

6 month old DS fighting naps and night waking

DS normally goes down between 6.30 -7pm, and was sleeping thorugh until 6.30ish. We dropped his 10.30pm feed about a month ago with no problem by giving him his dinner slightly earlier and then a bottle just before bed. The past couple of weeks he has been waking really early - about 4.30-5am. He isn't crying for food and we can easily make him wait until 6.30-7 for his first bottle, although I usually feed him as soon as he wakes anyway as that tends to knock him back out for a couple of hours! This is improving though and he has started to go a bit longer in the mornings - however he has started to wake in the night - not hungry or upset, just wide awake and gurgling - he will settle back down but it takes a while and obviously makes us tired. We often bring him into our bed as it's easier than getting up and down to see to him. It doesn't seem to happen at any given time - last few nights it has been at 1.30, before that was 3.30am.

He also really fights sleep during the day. It doesn't matter when I put him down - even if I think I've done it soon enough he already seems to be overtired and then whinges and cries for ages! I try giving him a wind down time - just cuddling and lying down together but it doesn't seem to work. I'm wondering if that's affecting his night?

Any ideas?
