The baby waking thru nite question...what to do?

Hi There... 2 things
My 7 month old son, Jake keeps waking up every 2 hrs thru the night. I'm not sure why he is waking but he stands up in his cot or he rolls over into some awkward position and then he starts crying. I understand that he cant get back down so I keep on putting him back and he goes straight back to sleep, but how can I stop him from doing this in the 1st place? and now this....
...The Last 3 night's have been horrendous he's woken every hour and half from Midnight to 5am (his usual wake up time arrgh!!!). He cries and wont go back to sleep. I had to give him milk (only last nite which I SO did not want to do this was at 1.30am) to settle him back to sleep then he was up at 3am crying again!! he is getting worse and worse it seems like he just wants power naps rather than a full nites sleep. Controlled crying isn't really an option for me I live with my mum and the walls are paper thin, the other option is PUPD (any ideas on this?) He is in a routine of bed by 7pm, and 2 x 1 or 2hr naps each day. He also has a dream feed at 10pm. Also any tips on making him sleep till at least 7am..HELP!!! thanks

Hi is there any chance that he might be hungry? I only ask as the milk is settling him. Is he having enough solids?

Also does he have any teeth yet? It could be teething - my ds was a nightmare in the lead up to his first teeth coming and then they all seemed to come at once.

Has he only just started pulling himself to standing? I think it's quite common for babies to have disturbed sleep for about a week when they're learning a new skill, like crawling, or cruising, or walking. (No personal experience of this as both mine were/are such terrible sleepers that I couldn't see a pattern in amongst the normal madness...)
