DD (2.2y) now in bed - how to get her to nap?

DD went into a bed on Sunday. She is mostly doing ok once she is asleep but getting her to stay in bed, especially for nap time is proving difficult.

During the day when she was in her cot she would just bumble around until she fell asleep but now she just seems to crash around the room, and if we are really lucky eventually she'll drop off. I've just checked on her after 2 hours of trying to get her to go down and she is asleep on the mat beside her bed. She is also often to be found kneeling on the floor with her head on the bed.

Any tips on getting her to go to sleep. We've never had to do anything as for the most part she has usually gone off by herself, even after an hour or so. I wonder if this is the end of nap time? She does still seem to need it, and to be quite honest DH and I need it! (We both work part time and share care of DD).

DS is 2.6 and dropped his nap a couple of months ago, unless he is out in the pram or car early afternoon, when he tends to drop off. Have you got a bed guard on the side of the bed? Just wondering if this might help if not? OR, how about one of those sleepover bed things in argos for her nap time, I think they're around £20 if you think it would be worth the money for the amount of nap time she has left, they're right on the floor, so no chance of her falling out?

Thanks for the reply, I'm not worried about her falling out, she hasn't so far. It's getting her to stay in!

We live in a flat and her room is off the hall opposite the kitchen (which doesn't have a door) so if we are in their she comes to the stair gate and tries to talk to us. E.g. she has been 'in bed' an hour but still isn't actually in bed!

I think we are going to have to shut her door, but get her a night light if she is going to wander round her room. We can't be confined to one room for the whole evening.

Having same problems after moving DS (2.4yr)to bed a month ago.

Interested to know, did you drop the nap? I am trying to persevere with nap - even though will probably have to get him in car/pushchair to have it - as bedtimes getting worse and think he may be overtired.
