Baby refuses to sleep unless rocked for ages. But baby is so heavy mother can't actually hold baby for that long without putting her back out!
DD is nearly six months and seems to have gone backwards in her sleep routine - she used to be so good at getting herself to sleep, we'd just put her down awake and she'd get herself to sleep, wake up for milk and then settle herself again.
She's now started waking several times a night, doesn't seem hungry (have tried feeding her and giving water but she's not bothered about them) and won't go back to sleep unless we rock her, and this can take up to half an hour.
As she weighs nearly 20lbs it is killing my back and I just can't hold her for that long and have to sit down. As soon as I do this she wakes up and starts crying again! If we lie her down with a dummy to try to get herself to sleep she just cries (and we don't want to let her cry for too long as it wakes DS and then he's grumpy the next day!)
She doesn't seem to be unwell and is her normal happy self all day, and doesn't seem to be teething (her teeth were bothering her a while back and she's not doing any of the fist eating any more).
Me and DP have been alternating who gets up each time but we're both exhausted. How can a good sleeper suddenly be so difficult to settle??
