baby goes to bed fine between 7 and 8pm! great you'd think, then every half hour sometimes hour, he spits his dummy out, screams, and flaps about! tried him in our bed but he just flaps about restless waking my hubby and i too! sometimes he has a feed but doesn't always want one, even when he does it only settles him for an hour or so! in the last 3ish months i think we've had about a solid 2 hours sleep! it's hell, please help, willing to try anything now!!! xxx

OMG! i thought my son was the worst, he's also 6 months he sleeps for 3 hours then after that wakes every 1-2 hours and stays awake for up to an hour each time. I have no miracle cure but i can say your not alone xx

do you think its a dummy problem or sleep problem? have you thought about ditching the dummy, IIRC babies are not so sucky after 4 months so dummies are then comforters that they are used to rather than being used to release a sucking need. It might be painful for a few days to get rid of the dummy but if thats what is causing the waking it could be worth it?

don't think it's dummy related, he's quite good that way that if he doesn't want it he won't take it! getting him to dr's next week as HV thinks it may be hayfever! who knew babies could get that! not me! hopefully we'll have a positive outcome from that! it's good to hear i'm not alone though! xxx

My DS was like this too, his worst episode was 24 wakings before midnight . Co-sleeping did help and he was only waking 3 to 5 times a night.

He has slept through for the last 5 nights consecutively, which is fab for me, the bad news for you is that he is

2.6

oh my god i can't wait until then! that's fab though, we've tried the co-sleeping but my hubby is a very light sleeped while my baby tosses and turns like me! i could sleep through it if it wasn't for the hubby saying "he's moving around again"!!! lol gotta try laugh about it!!!

Hello Lorna - I hear you! There is a whole support thread for people just like us which if I was clever, I could paste the link for but can't. It may be on active just now as I've just posted but otherwise, look for teh 'mistaken belief' thread on sleep!

Six month growth spurt. Remove dummy and place bottle/boob. Also, gross motor development upsets their sleep at this age.

Hi, My little one is one year and still keeps waking up every 1-2 hours or so. As does your little one he flaps about and cries for a while before I can calm him down and put him back to sleep.
He used to sleep in his cot by our bed but was feeling increasingly insecure and was waking up more and more. I ended up going through the day like a zombie...
What we did is that I ended up sleeping with the baby in our bed so that I could reassure it whenever it woke up. Most times baby also wanted to feed. My hubby ended up sleeping in the guestroom or the couch but it was better for everyone.
Sleeping in the same bed with baby really helps as mum is all babies want during night.
Anyway babies do go through stages (which could last a while) but you will have to try different things and see which one works. I am now getting him off the night feeds as more teeth are coming out and will soon start putting him to sleep in his cot again.
