I've just decided that I've had enough of the night wakings to relocate the dummy(ies) and that it is high time to get rid of it (almost 16 months). I've heard that the best way is cold turkey but how on earth do you get past the crying etc... I can't imagine putting dd to bed without it. She does have a muslin as a comforter as well, which I guess might help a bit. Please help - I've been trawling threads for an hour and not really found anything.

I have done this with dd just over a week ago.

I did it cold Turkey and she was fine. She has a blanket that she goes to bed with and the first night without it she did ask for it but I just said no it's dirty and she turned over and went to sleep.

Give it a try. It's been well worth it for us as it's made dd more vocal without it.

Cold turkey. Try to ignore the crying, it shouldn't last too long. Sorry, not much advice except to just do it and hold fast.
