Co-Sleepers - will I end up

with a ten year old in my bed?

My DS now is in our bed from bedtime to morning. His rages and tantrums have massively subsided. I don't know if there is a link but I'm loathe to rock the boat just now.

I suspect that as he'd run into our room each night anyway, complaining of bad dreams and then grind his teeth in our bed, he's getting better rest and is, as a result better tempered.

But what if he wants to sleep in our bed forever? Does anyone have experience of this, please?

We don't mind for now whilst he's still smallish but I don't think we could have it for years and years.

DD1 is desperate to sleep in her own room, but won't do it on her own and is waiting for DD2 to be ready to do it with her. She's wanted to do it for about 6m now - she's nearly 6 now and DD2 is 4. They frequently start the night in their room and then come in half-way through the night, which disturbs us all, so sometimes we carry them in asleep when we go to bed to pre-empt them .

Personally, my DH and I love bedsharing. If you can let go of any cultural objections to it, and just enjoy it for what it is - a lovely, cuddly time that will not last - then you'll probably stop worrying about when he'll move out of your bed and maybe even start hoping it won't be for ages yet

no, you won't. i don't know any co-sleepers who still have a 10 yr old in bed with them.
I know plenty who still share with 3/4 yr olds, and a couple with 5/6 yr olds but they are happy with that.
i do thionk that after about 3 or 4 it gets a LOT easier to transition them into their own bed (prob even earlier)

my dd co slept or was in her cotbed in our room until she turned 3, when she got her own bedroom she flat out refuses to come to our bed, even when poorly, the only exception being sometimes at weekends in the morning for a snuggle

My mum and dad co-slept with all 4 of us and let us go into our own bed when we wanted (not how ive done things at all

anyway I was by far the worst - only moving into my own bed all night when I was 6.

Lindenlass I thought I was the only one pre-empting-carrying sleeping child into my bed! DS is now 4 & recently have struggled lifting him, sleepy and heavy into my bed so have left him. Now he comes through around 3am I think, shouts 'Hi Mummy' at the top of his voice and jumps in with various teddies and somehow we both fall asleep again quickly. Then he is up again at 6am.
