11w.o sleeping on tummy

I posted last week about DS sleeping badly at night. He is now sleeping better after a couple of nights of waking up every 1-2hrs and me getting my stubborn head on as he CAN'T have been hungry and managing to settle him back down. BUT sometimes he lies on his back thrashing around and grunting and can't seem to settle, so I have rolled him onto his tummy and he has slept for another 1-2hrs. I feel really bad for doing this, as if I 'm taking the easy option out to get some sleep and possibly doing something that could harm him, but he seems to sleep so much better. Does anyone else have a baby who sometimes sleeps on their fronts, and what if anything can I do to make it safer??
ALSO, he seems to sleep better on his back when swaddled, but is in a gro-bag at night. Will he get too hot if I swaddle his arms in a very light blanket on top of a 2.5tog gro-bag??

My dd gets like this when she has wind. She can have slept for a good while, gets crabby & upset. If she is still quite asleep, I roll her onto her side, back to her back, on to her side etc until she releases it.

I know that when I had wind in pregnancy it was very painful to lie on my back.

Second hercules1 tho,...I would not put a baby to sleep on their front.

How are you sure he isn't hungry? How much is he eating & how often, bottle or breastfed?. Also, they go thru a gorwth spurt at around 12 weeks, so he may well be needing more food.

Fairly sure he's not hungry. BF and feeding every 2-3hrs during the day and then cluster feeding in the evening. Think he has just had his growth spurt as wanted feeding every 2hrs for a ciuple of days. Presumably if he was hungry, putting him on his front wouldn't help and he would continue to protest.

My first port of call would be to feed, tbh. As I am sure you know, BM doesn't stay in their tummy for long, so maybe just try to rule it out?

1-2 hours between breastfeeds sounds normal to me.

Especially during a growth spurt.

I would suggest getting a lighter grobag and then using a sheet or muslin to swaddle rather than a blanket. You might want to try a summer weight grobag.

It does sound as if he's uncomfortable rather than hungry if he goes back to sleep in a different position. Personally I was always keen to keep night feeds to a minimum as I didn't want to get in to a situation where DD learnt that she needed feeding to get back to sleep.
