15month old still in my bed and does not go to sleep alone.

DD has always been a nightmare sleeper, she was bf to sleep from birth untill about 2months ago.

I stopped bf and instead cuddled to sleep and at nap times I take her out in the pram or walk up and down with her.

I know I have done it all the wrong way with dd and keep hoping things will improve. They have improved massivly already.

I tried the bath, story bed routine but dd loves books so much that it does not matter how many times I read her boos she moans for me to read more. And I can barley read them anyway as she keeps turning the pages.

Anyone else got a terrible bedtime routine like me? We watch tv in bed for half an hour then turn tv off and lie in the dark having cuddles and singing untill she is asleep.

I really need her to learn to get to sleep alone.

Also sometimes she wakes in the middle of the night screaming and will not settle with cuddles, I found putting on in the night garden dvd settles her right away blush I noI am so bad....

I would suggest no distractions like tv from now on, just a bath and story, then lights off, dont lie in bed with her, sit next to her and do your usual singing to begin with, each night try moving a bit further away from her, sit on the floor away from the bed, until eventually you are practically out of the door, and make each stay with her shorter, if she cries when you leave, let her, if she doesnt settle after 5mins go back in just to reasure her, but make your visits short and boring (ie make sure she is safe, say nothing, go back out) persistance is the key, eventually she will learn to go asleep without you being there, hth.

can I still do this with her in my bed?

She hates her cot and cries after 1min in there...

Well i would say yes to that, because my ds sleeps in my bed with me, he settles very well, and sometimes i just lift him into his own bed once asleep, but mostly i leave him because i like to cuddle him when i go to bed blush but other might disagree, i think as long as you keep a routine and she starts to settle well, it doesnt matter whos bed she is in, good luck smile

how old is your ds? and is it jjust the two of you in bed?

It is just me and dd and i quite like having her there.

he is 2.3 now, and yes. its just the two of us, he is a dream at bedtime, bath, story, then lights off, i just kiss him goodnight and walk out, lately he has been asking me to leave the door open though. It was only when he got his own little bed that he started climbing in with me and now he just climbs straight into my bed at bedtime, and im like you, i quite like having him there, and dont see any harm in it as long as he is getting his sleep.

Was going to add, my ds1 (now 19 shock) was like your dd, i used to have to lie with him till he fell asleep, so i know how you feel, i swore i wouldnt get into that habbit with ds2, he has tried it on in the past though, but i have just let him cry, and kept going back in just to reasure him i hadnt abandoned him, kept my visits short and sweet, it worked well.

yes I am EXACTLY the same but tbh I dont care. Dh is more pissed off with it than me. I feel like i need him close though

fiz - exp used to say I had to move dd out of the bed so I got rid of him instead lol.

No got rid of him for other reasons and would prefer to have dd with me then him, she is cuddly and takes up less space, but when she does sprawl out or lie across the bed I can easily move her which I couldn't do with him. wink
