Sleep

Just taken side off cot...........

DD2 is 19 months. She's been trying to climb out of her cot for a while, which was OK, as it's impossible to do wearing her sleeping bag. But this morning I twice found her trying to climb back into it. God knows how she managed it, but she was stuck on top of the cot side, one leg either side of the bars. So it's clearly not safe.

So now here I am sitting listening to her most decidedly not sleeping for her lunch time nap (she ALWAYS sleeps, but not today of course - running around her room like a hefalump!!). I've shut a stairgate across her room, so she's leaning over calling Mummy, mummy.....

I'm dreading this evening. I'm not at all sure what to do, not least as she shares a room with DD1 and is bound to disturb her. I never had much trouble when DD1 went into a bed. For the first 6 weeks or so it didn't seem to cross her mind she could actually get out, and by the time she realised she was pretty settled into it.

So.... advice?????

Nelly.....how did it all go? I'm only just considering doing it for dd (2.2) and am very worried-i'm sure she'll run riot (normally she is very good-but think it'll just be far too much temptation!)

Pretty well actually. Since the first day lunch time naps are completely back to normal (she's always exhausted at lunch time!).

As I said on another thread, evening bed time is a bit of an effort, she WILL get out of bed and run around like a crazy thing!). Luckily she doesn't cry or cause trouble - so we leave her to it. She gets v excited and pulls books off shelves, gets out all the soft toys etc. She is quite capable of getting into bed (eventually) and tucking herself under the duvet as she has done every night - except last night when she fell asleep on the floor!! I picked her up and popped her into bed and she didn't stir! Once she's asleep though we've had no issues - through to morning as usual. The novelty will no doubt wear off soon. I think the stair gate (and a safe room) is the key.

Hi Nelly, just stumbled across your thread as I'm having problems with my DD (2.2)

Are your DD's lunchtime naps still working out ok?

I can't get DD to have a lunchtime sleep at all now (she still desperately needs one!) she bounces on the bed and runs riot. We have a stairgate at the top of the stairs but not on her room. Is it still working for you? Do you just leave her to it at lunch? At the moment I'm going in and putting her back to bed every time she gets up, spent 1.5hrs on the landing this lunchtime, methinks it's turning into a game. It's killing me!

Anyway would be great to hear how you're getting on

Cheers
