She's waking up and having a party in the early hours most night s- any advice?

For several months, our 19 month old DD has been waking up in the early hours of the morning. We hear her laughing, screaming (joyfully), talking and playing. She is completely happy. This can last for up to 4 hours! We have tried cutting out her naps in the day, and this doesn't seem to make any difference. We rarely go in to her, but when we have, she lies down as requested, but the party resumes as soon as we leave!

Our walls are paper thin and it's keeping us, and possibly the neighbours, awake most nights.

Has this happened to anyone else? We thought it would pass, but has been going on now for several months.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Dorchies
My 20 month old son has been doing this for the last 3 months! He always settles himself back down again but I'm worried as he'll be sharing his step-brothers room in the next few months and I'm concerned he'll wake him up too! Has it got any better for you?
Funny little things are'nt they??!! Bless!

My 18 mo also wakes in the wee hours but we have to go in or he cries loudly. He's totally up for playing, reading, giggling, whatever. I was up with him from 1 until 4 last night - nightmare!! (I'm at work now!) He just seems to have so much energy and mental stamina! I'm hoping it's a developmental stage - although he's always been a bad sleeper.

My 22 month has been doing this for a few months, only for about an hour though. It is most peculiar, especially when he starts laughing - he is in the dark, what is that funny in the middle of the night? .
