Im very lucky in the fact that both dd and ds are fairly good sleepers...

dd would sleep 7pm-7/8/9 without a problem.Along with having a 2 hour nap.

Around 2/3 weeks ago the nap stopped..took us a bit to get used to it but I guess we are there now .

DD started preschool last week and it seems since then the problems have started.

She is waking around 7am..well thats the time we get her up iykiwm and usually she is sat in her room with the light on playing..She goes to bed around 7pm..and now the fun starts...

Once in bed within minutes she is up, light on, reading books etc and it takes us 1/2 times before she stops in bed and is usually out within minutes (btw during the day esp afternoon she is v tired and usually ends up climing the walls iykwim.hyper as overtired)

She then sleeps peacefully till around 4am when she is waking again and playing. Light go back on, door can be opened and books etc out. Im not always a light sleeper and its usually dh who notices.
How do we stop this..? She knows its dark and tells us so BUT still gets up. I have had words with her etc BUT still it continues.

Security is not an issue as she is baby gated into her room and the stairs also have a gate BUT how do we stop this waking up..?

I have heard about the "bunny clock" but want to know its good before I shell out £30..Any other ideas..?

TIA X

It's weird you say this as ds has been doing the same thing since being back at playschool. He is waking around 4 too and playing in his room. Trouble is it makes him tired and grumpy during the day as he is so tired! I do sympathise. I have no idea how to make him sleep in either, just go into his room and say 'its early etc' but he won't settle back down.
Hope someone else has some ideas/advice!

awww I sympathise with you as well mumfor1st.....

Guess Im lucky as dd will go back off to sleep...

I guess the fact both have started preschool is a major factor..Lots going on,excited as well being a bit aprehensive iykwim..Guess its like when we start a new job..I know Im the type to wake at odd hours and talk in my sleep etc when troubled so maybe dd and your ds is doing the same...

Hopefully someone will be along to say their lo was the same and it stopped after x time or to try x or that its a case of "tough, deal with it" .

See when she wakes she is active, alert etc..its usually when ds naps at 1-3 that she then starts to flake but won't give in... The when he's up its around 4pm that she then become grumpy and quiet and says she is tired..BUT gets a 2nd wind come 6pm and is HYPER like you wouldn't believe..tiredness I guess... KIDS..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am putting it down to ds getting me into practise for when new baby arrives, I am 21 weeks pg! The other night he was up playing at 2.30am and then fell asleep for a bit, then up again at 4am! It can get frustrating when they can't see that they need their sleep!
Let's just hope it is a phase lol!

dd was 20 months when ds arrived so wasn't bad on the sleep front..Thank god..!!
I guess, it gets you into the swing of things BUT on the otherhand, when pregnant, the thing you need most is SLEEP..!!

Bumping to see if anyone can help us.....
