3 year old waking too early!

My daughter keeps waking up for 6am. Is this normal? She has only just now gone down (8.30pm) which is about normal but then wakes at 6 this morning! It was 5am which is not good as I have a 3 month old who I BF a couple of times every night so it would be great if my 3 year old stayed in bed a little longer. Any advise?

6 am is quite normal. Try to get her to stay in her own room, play with toys etc, until later. You might leave water in a lidded cup in the room in case she is thirsty.

6 sounds about right. My DS is nearly 3 and is now sleeping in til about 6 rather than the 5 he has been for months. My other two are early risers too, although not quite so early, usually about 6.30. Nothing changes it, tried the put to bed later thing, ended up getting up at the same time and incredibly tired!

My 3 year old is the same. myself and my friends started using bunny alarm clocks. Basically bunny pops when its time to get up. I have mine set for 6.45 and I sometimes hear him go to the loo at 6 but he doesn't come to our room until bunny has popped took a few weeks of reinforcement but it works great now.

I think it is fairly normal, the main thing is to teach her to stay fairly quietly in her room. DD1 (3.5) often gets up and goes to the loo at around 6 am or 6.30, but she has learnt to go back to her room, read books etc until it is time to get up. I leave books on her bedside table (and she can get more off the shelves if she wants). Ever since she moved to a bed just before she was 2, if she got out of bed before 7 I'd say 'it's still sleep time, go back to bed' and so although she might wake up earlier she doesn't tend to get up or wake us.
