Lockdown babies and naps away from home

Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone else has a lockdown baby who will not sleep anywhere but their bed?

We went to the farm yesterday afternoon and ds was exhausted on the drive home but fighting for dear life to not sleep, spitting dummy out, shouting etc.

I know a lot of people are desperate to get their babies to sleep in their cot, but I'm wondering if anyone has advice on how to get him to sleep out of his cot. He has a dummy, lullabies, a black out blind and comforter for naps.

Weve tried car rides, pushchair walks at nap time, playing the lullabies whilst doing so... at the moment were making plans around naps, so baby group after morning nap, swimming class over lunch time or days out after 2nd nap but we a caravan holiday booked in july and it would be lovely to not have to worry about rushing back for nap time. Especially the afternoon nap as he could just dose off in the pushchair for an hour.

I've purchased a snooze shade and hope this might help, just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or has an ideas? Thanks in advance

Try napping in the pushchair at home? So do your usual wind down routine then put him down into the stroller instead of the cot and once he’s asleep wheel it out to the garden.

Pram in the bedroom sounds like a good starting point - good luck! My eldest was very tricky with her naps and switching to the stroller for all naps helped us get out and about her getting grotty and over tired so hopefully it will work for you too. With the youngest we’ve done the pram from day one. Sadly not much opportunity to go anywhere so far thanks to lockdown so he mostly naps in the garden but we have things planned next week that I am hoping he’ll sleep straight through!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it. When they're young everyone drums into you that they must be in their cot, but actually, had I have known what would have happened I would definitely have gotten him used to the pushchair at home too.

Noise is the other thing, I have friends who's baby will sleep though a party, but 1 cough and my little guy is up lol. Good luck for next week, we have been to the farm 3 times and swimming twicr this week and he loves being outdoors. Being at home has been really boring for him the last couple of months, such a shame for the lockdown babies

If noise is an issue you could always try a portable white noise machine in the pram. We use that and a Snooze Shade for our very distractable baby

Yes he loves his ewan the ewe white noise I took the inside out when he was small so he just has the plastic shushing part which would be very easy to put in the pushchair. Good idea, thank you
