Omg 4 month sleep regression

When will it end!!!?? 4 month sleep regression is a killer! I forgot what it felt like to be up constantly in the night as my baby was such a good sleeper from 8 weeks onwards (she's now 19 weeks) she used to go stretches of 10-12 hours sleep, I know I'm so lucky! But it's all gone out of the window and she's waking constantly in the night for the past week

How long did your babies regression last for? Also I'm feeding her every time she wakes as I know that gets her back to sleep but should I be? I obviously don't want to starve her but should I be letting her try to self soothe before I feed her as she generally slept through the night anyway

Thanks from a very tired mum! Sad

Hi! My little boy is also in it, he wasn’t fed to sleep but was waking for the dummy. We’ve also had nights where he is awake for 2-3hrs in the middle of the night.
Last couple nights has been bit better, he’s stopped taking the dummy - his choice! And we’ve been shush patting him when he wakes. He’s gone from waking frequently to waking once for a feed and then once to be resettled. Not perfect but loads better!!
I think we are suppose to teach them to settle without our help, so dummies, feeding, rocking etc. Not easy I know!

At that age I just fed mine and did whatever the hell I could do to get him back down. Way to young to worry about taking food and dummies away etc.
When he woke in the night I just resigned myself to being awake for a few hours, plopped him on a playmat and watched a movie. It's way easier if you "let it be".
Also, don't be afraid to give some Calpol every now and then, it's impossible to know if they have toothache/headache/bellyache when they're regressing!

It's not a regression! It's a progression. If you think of it like that it might make it easier to bear.

I don't think any name will make it easier to bear Grin

Right in the thick of it right now. I've been reading so many different things I don't know what's the right thing to do.

Interesting that the definition in most research studies of 'sleeping through the night' is defined from 12 midnight to 5am...
