Hi
So I have a ds 15 months and he's never been a good sleeper since he was born. At 7 months he was still waking every two hours. We have had tough nights all the way through and IV battled it all myself. Husband works two jobs only gets limited sleep.
But now at 15 months I can longer cope.
So breakdown : Good sleep routine , in bed by 9
Sleeps perfectly till 12. After 12 it's like he gets possessed his awakenings can vary from every half an hour to every hour . And whenever he wakes up ,it takes up to 1 or 2 hours to sleep. ( Tried sleep training since he was small , nothing works for him ,tried to research and try different methods )
He is asleep in my lap and as soon as I put him down he wakes up screaming this can happen up to 20 times ,the other day I was up till four cos everytime I put his down he would do that. (Usual tricks like white noise, tapping his chest, comforter no longer work) I was losing my mind. The thing is there's nothing wrong with him , no pain no discomfort , I go through the whole list, is it teething, hunger, full nappy, temperature, wind, etc etc . I can't find an explanation and most parents say theyre baby had a phase but they eventually get better , IV been wishing for the phase to go since forever.
P.s he's not overtired
Only has one nap or two small naps a day
Cousin living in the same house has been sleeping through the night since 7 months
He cosleeps just with me
I think what happens he is too clingy even at night he wants his mum all he time is that an explanation? He wakes up eyes closed, screaming and launches himself in my direction .
Pps he is also getting tested for autism is that linked ?

Getting tested for autism at 15 months? He just sounds clingy OP. I had one like this. Dummy and co sleeping worked. He started going through on his own at 2, 7-7 but he’s 3 now and we will still have the odd nights of him wanting to get in with me. Ime I’d say just go with it if he will sleep with you. It doesn’t last and it stops you being driven mad x

Is 9 maybe too late if he's not napping well during the day?

9 sounds a very late bedtime for his age, what time is his nap? I'd be looking for him to have one afternoon nap at around 12-2 and bedtime routine starting no later than 7 to see if it makes a difference.

FWIW I do feel your pain, DS is a nightmare sleeper but I'm used to it now. Until 14 months or so he woke at least hourly all night every night. It slowly got better, but he still wakes at least 3-4 times a night now at almost 2. We also cosleep. Medically they won't investigate until he's much older so we really just have to make the best of it and hope it improves on its own.
