Sleep

12 month old and one nap a day

So my DS was 1 last week. He’s a great sleeper but i’m in a bit of a quandary about his naps and lunch. So he normally wakes up about 8:00am and is then ready for his nap about 11:30 which means he doesn’t really want any lunch. I have tired to have his lunch ready for 11:30 to try and push his nap back 30 minutes but he’s so tired and cranky. He’s currently still asleep he went down about 11:30 so nearly a 3 hour nap at the moment and hasn’t eaten anything since breakfast about 9 ish.
He goes to bed at 8pm I could get him to bed a tad earlier but i don’t get home from work till near 6pm so it would be tight with cooking dinner and bath etc.
My other though was to get him up earlier in the morning but that seems cruel.
He was doing 2 naps till very recently but started dodging his afternoon one so thought we’d try one nap but now i’m not sure what to do for the best. Any advice welcome

Hmm, I would give him a snack at 11:00, maybe some apple and rice cakes with peanut butter or similar. Then on waking I’d give him some lunch. Cream cheese sandwich, humous and breadsticks, that kind of thing. So you’re almost splitting his lunch over a snack before nap and lighter lunch on waking. Hopefully he’ll be raring for his tea before evening bedtime :)

Nutritious snack before and after nap instead of lunch?

I used to give a decent snack at 11 and then some thing when DD woke up: within a couple of months she adjusted her nap to a bit later so I could do lunch at 12 or 12.30 after a while
