Sleep

Should I hire a sleep consultant?

Hi all,

I’ve been having trouble with my 7mo frequently waking at night. He’ll thrash and cry in his sleep (eyes closed), get frustrated and will only settle with a comfort feed or (sometimes) dummy. This happens constantly throughout the night, every 45mins, 90 mins etc for about two months, going on three. It started off while he was still young enough to be in his Moses basket, but I moved him to my bed as it’s easier for me to settle him.

Things I’ve tried:
Feeding him more during the day
White noise
Introducing a comfort toy (Ollie the owl)
Adjusted “cry it out” (I was nearby the whole time so he knew he wasn’t alone)
Baths before bedtime (no difference in quality of sleep)
Letting him sleep alone
He has a consistent daily routine and falls asleep easily, but even his daytime naps are short unless I’m nearby to rock him back to sleep.

I have no idea what to try next, so please let me know if you have any ideas! Has anyone had any luck with a sleep consultant? I’m willing to give it a go but many of them seem out of my budget.

My DS was very much like this so I do get your frustration. With him it was Tongue Tie.
