6 year old early waking

I wonder if anyone has anything that worked for a child to teach them to go back to sleep - ds age 6 has always struggled with early starts but had gradually got better with a gro clock. He doesn’t normally mind is very happy to read in his room, play games or puzzles and entertain himself but it currently is 5am and he’s wide awake. It doesn’t matter if we put him to bed at 6pm, 7pm or 8pm he’ll fall fast asleep and always be awake very early and get over tired.

Any suggestions to teach him how to get back to sleep? Would audio books help? I am the same in that all my life I’ve been an early waker and I just go to bed early to compensate for it so I struggle to teach him how to do something I can’t do! Even as. Teenager 6am was the latest I’d wake unless I was out until 2 at uni but even then I’d wake by 8 and be a zombie! Everyone keeps saying just wait until he’s older and you won’t be able to wake him but I just don’t trust that to be true given my own experience!

Thanks

If he's playing quietly, I'd just leave him but you could try giving him something like guided meditation aimed at children to listen to.

Do you think a dip in the temperature of the bedroom might be waking him?
