Sleep

2yo waking at 1am

She has always been a great sleeper so this is really unusual.

She has a nap 12 to 1, bed at 8pm and wakes at 7.30.

But she is now waking at 1am ish and screaming. We’ve been bringing her into our bed and most nights she goes back to sleep quite quickly.

Any ideas? Third baby and I’m lost!! I would let her cry it out but my older ones need their sleep for school!

Any signs of a throat or ear infection?

Could she just be too cool and that's waking her and she's figured out that if she screams, she gets to come into a nice warm bed with you?

There are a few regressions at around 2, aren’t there?

Thank you! We’ve turned the heating up, down, duvet instead of gro bag!!

Maybe we’ll just carry on this week and if it is a sleep regression it should end soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

She’s not ill. It’s just strange as sleep regressions were never this bad!!

Our 22 month old is doing the exact same. Suddenly crying our quite loudly at around 2am and when I go in she needs to be picked up (full on meltdown if I don't).

As soon as I have picked her up she settles straight to sleep in my arms so I bring her into our bed and transfer her back once she is in a deep sleep but then when she wakes again she cries again. Generally happening between 2 until wake up time (6:20)

No idea how to tackle it? take a harsh line and refuse to pick up, carry on bringing her to bed so everyone sleeps?

She generally falls asleep pretty well with minimal support and obviously resettles before 2am so were at a loss.

@wale90 We're attempting leaving her to cry at the weekend, it didn't work! She came in at 11pm sunday! 2am last night but she went straight back to sleep in our bed.

We're going with it now in the hope she'll stop on her own. I'm not even tired anymore, my body clock has adjusted 😂

@Helenj1977 God its hard isn't it, we've just had a melt down at bedtime as well.

Her day time naps will now only happen if we have 'quiet tv' time which she'll nod off to.

Literally every element of her sleep has gone to shit. We're thinking of just letting her get into bed for the foreseeable to, at least we all get sleep and I don't have to listen to her scream at 3am Grin

Feel free to update me with ANY times you have if you get back on track.

@wales90 We've gone backwards at bedtime tonight as well. But, naps are great now 🤞🏻 We had been a sitting with her until she dropped off but now she will self settle.

She's my third and definitely the hardest!!

She's finally lying down now. Let's see what the night brings... Good luck!
