Normal sleep routine for 3 month old

Hi my little girl is coming up 3 months (she's 13 weeks tomorrow). She is sometimes a nightmare to put down at night, she'll fall asleep on us and then we'll put her in her crib and she'll wake up and start crying. We have to get her out and hold her again until she goes to sleep and put her back in.

Should she be self settling by this age? If we leave her she just gets more upset so we usually get her out. Is she in a bad routine of wanting to be held to sleep?
I've tried to put her down awake and she would just lie there for 15 mins working herself up getting more tired.

Once she is asleep, she can usually go 5-6 hours. Longest she had done is 8 and half hours between feeds but that was only twice.

Any advice is appreciated ! 🙂

That sounds pretty normal to me. She's still very little. My DS was the same at that age.

She definitely shouldn’t be expected to self settle at that age. Strap yourselves in and just go along for the ride!!! Do whatever you need to do to get some sleep.. don’t overthink ‘settling’ and ‘being without you’... she’s tiny. These first few months are hard. I wouldn’t expect to see any kind of pattern or routine until at least 6 months. Even then it’s sketchy AF! Good luck. Smile

Thank you! I just worry cause I keep reading about these routines and not to spoil them by settling them yourself and people telling me she should be settling by now! You've made me feel better.
