Please help I'm at my wits end!

Ds has just turned 1 and is fighting naps terribly!

He has always been a great night sleeper (goes in cot sleepy but awake and is normally sleeping within 5mins with little to no tears) day time sleep has always been a challenge, has to be held/rocked, have tried cot but he will scream.

The past few weeks he has been fighting both naps especially the afternoon nap, to the point of kicking, back arching, trying to get away. He is certainly tired his eyes roll as soon as he's rocked but doesn't last long.

His day goes pretty much as follows...
6-7am wakes
8am breakfast
9.30am nap (1hour)
12pm lunch
2pm milk and nap (1-1.5hour)
5pm tea
6.30pm bath, milk and bed for 7pm

He sleeps through no issues. Have tried cot, pram, lying next to him, leaving him to play.

Any tips? Is he ready to drop one nap or is this just a phase? I would like to get out of the rocking but to be honest that's the least of my worries at the moment, yesterday it took me 1.5 hours for him to sleep a grand total of 30mins 😩

My DD really struggled with this too. I just couldn't get her to nap, even though I thought she was tired.
I struggled for ages, and didn't want to move to one nap as I thought she was too young. When I finally tried it, it suited her much better and getting her to have one nap during the day was much easier. It wasn't without its teething problems, but she settled into the new routine seemingly better than the old one.
I'm not sure that's what your baby needs, but it worked for mine!

I'd say it's probably time to try one nap - we pushed the morning nap back a bit so my DD was properly shattered and then had an earlier bedtime for a little while before that went back to its usual time. You might find you get one nap on some days and then two naps on the next to start with.

Thankyou for the replies, I think your right it may not be the answer but it's worth a try

I did plan on trying it today however went for a walk usually guaranteed not to nap and he fell asleep no dummy and up right! This has never happened before!!

Will attempt tomorrow : )

Oh I had this recently! I think it's a mix of sleep regression and transitioning to one nap. I also thought it was too early but went for it anyway - bring his afternoon nap earlier if you need to (around 12/1). He is almost 13 months and much better now! Some days he will have 2 naps, some days just 1. I judge it by what we are doing that day/how early he woke/how he seems.
Sometimes I just put him down at say 9.30/10 and if he does sleep I wake him after 30/45 mins. If he doesn't sleep after about 20 mins I'll just get him back up and put him for his afternoon nap earlier. If he does sleep in the morning I'll put him down around 1ish.
If it's a regression I think time and consistency is all you can really do!
It lasted a few weeks for us but much better now. Someone said to me once that if a baby can self settle, they don't tend to lose that skill so no matter what it is I think your little one will get it back x
