Confused about little man

Hi everyone

Me and the DH are a bit stuck with our little man and his sleeping.
The last 2 almost 3 weeks he's been waking up around 3 / 4 or 5am first due to teething but now it seems to become a bit of a habit!! He's been going to bed a bit later too due to his nap being late. So I'm moving his maps up again (as far as possible) and I'm hoping that that'll work but is there a 18 month sleep regression?? He's tired but seems brightly awake at 4!!! And falls asleep about 2 hours later and then wakes up at 9 or 10 in the morning.

Also we're trying to get him out of his sleeping bags and under a duvet and on a pillow. When he sleeps next to me (under a heavy duvet and on a soft pillow) he's completely knock out but in his own bed he kicks off the duvet and ends up with cold hands and feet since he gets his socks off too! His pillow is different than ours and duvet is of course a lighter. My DH said he's had his mattress since birth maybe that needs changing? Anyone got any ideas?

I'd keep him in the sleeping bag tbh.

Really @dementedpixie?? I thought a duvet was a good idea, he sometimes had cool legs and cold hands as well in the sleeping bag that's 2.5 tog.

How many naps is he having? He's probably ready to drop down to one nap which does cause a bit of a regression.

I'd keep him in his sleeping bag too. Although if he kicks his duvet off it's probably because he's hot!

Ds was in his sleeping bag until 2 and a half years old. What does he wear in the sleeping bag? Cold hands are fine.

He's having one nap mostly between 1 and 3 @peachgreen. I'm trying to stop him sleeping after 4 otherwise he won't sleep around 8 or half 8 at all. He dropped his second nap around 12 or 13 months old.
He wears a long sleeved vest and a long sleeved shirt. The room does feel a bit cool sometimes but we turn the heater up then. I've been thinking if he could wear thin pants but the guidelines for sleeping bags says this should be okey?!

I'd put a sleepsuit or PJ trousers on if his legs are cold. What temperature does the room go down to at night?

I'll try that out tonight @dementedpixie thank you!!! It goes to around 19 or 20 at night and that's why we're both a bit confused since he should be (technically) warm in his 2.5 tog sleeping bag

Well had a toasty little man up again at 4, tired but talking and fell asleep again around half past 5 or so. He just woke up since he was proper KO after waking up!!!! I'm in need of a steady caffeine supply for the rest of the day Confused

I wouldn't have let him sleep until 10.30am as that will knock the rest of the day out. Maybe wake him at 8am so you can get in routine for the rest of the day

That's definitely true @dementedpixie! I'm just really surprised as to why I got him waking up at 4 or 5 every morning even when we had our normal routine of waking up at 7.30 Sad

There is an 18 month sleep regression. Our toddler went from a perfect sleeper, to waking between 4-5am every day, For 6 weeks. His naps were absolutely trashed. He was so tired he was falling asleep in the car on the way to nursery.

Nothing we tried / changed worked. I was losing my mind! And then one day, he just went back to sleeping perfectly. We couldn't believe it.

there is hope!

Is he hungry do you think?

@sar302 Did you keep your little boy up or did you allow him to fall asleep later on? Because I notice with mine he can easily fall asleep again about 2 or 3 hours later!! And he'll be KO for a couple of hours throwing his whole routine out of the window.
@managedmis He's eating tons more the last week because his teething has stopped a bit now but he doesn't seem to be hungry in the morning just awake Blush

@Peaches2018
Honestly we tried a bit of everything -
earlier bed time, later bed time, earlier nap, later nap, going back to two naps, naps according to his sleep signals (cue me following him around the house obsessively for a week waiting for a yawn 🙄). We tried leaving him to cry, going in at timed intervals, trying to resettle him / stay with him while he went back to sleep.
We tried extra food / water / milk, pain relief, checked the temp of his room, blacked it out completely, upped his white noise....
As well as brutally early mornings, he went from napping from 2.5-3 hrs a day, to only 45mins max a day. Nothing worked.

Then one day he just napped for 3.5 hrs, woke up at a sensible time the next morning, and then napped well the next day, and so on. Completely back to normal. I can only assume it was a regression, because it fixed itself just as I was about to lose my mind, and nothing we did made a bit of difference.

Oh my ds use to do this.. same age too. I shortened his nap and we had a routine as had toget dds to school so 7am wake up regardless. It worked. Yes I'd do long pjs and sleeping bag too.
