15 month old sleeping away from home - advice?

Hi all,
I'd love to hear any thoughts you might have on this one. My DS is 15 months old and is a brilliant sleeper at home (7-7) and tends to chatter himself off to sleep most nights. We're going to a wedding this weekend and are staying over in the hotel - something we've been putting off as he didn't settle at all well the last time we tried it! He seemed unsettled outside of his own environment.

Does anyone have any top tips or things we can try? He sleeps in a GroBag so we'll take that. I can just see myself pushing him round in his buggy all night!

hiya, well the key is, tire him out! lots of walking around with him and i expect he'll be up later than usual! take a familiar toy from home aswell.maybe you could nip back to your room near to bed time for a change into some nice pj's and then if he falls asleep in his buggy you can just transfer him straight into his cot. enjoy yourself!!

Our DD did take a bit to settle (an hour!!) but once she was asleep, she was fine. will he be in a cot while you have a monitor? If you follow the usual bed time routine, you'll probably be fine - just don't try to speed it all up! Also - get ready for the eve before you put him to bed otherwise you might wake him while you get yourselves sorted. If it gets silly and he won't sleep, you can always sling him in to the buggy in his PGs and gro-bag and take him partying with you. He will pass out when he's had enough.

Does he have a toy or something you could take too. We have taken our daughter away really regularly since she was tiny but always tend to taker her pillow so it smells familiar and if we have room a blanket that she uses. That being said I think she would sleep standing up half way up a mountain since we took her to glastonbury festival at 13months and she slept through in a tent very close to the fire stage and all the fireworks.
