Sleep

4 month only sleeping in my arms

Hi all, any advice appreciated. For the last couple of weeks my 4 month old will only sleep for 30 mins at a time in her Moses basket at night. She then starts lifting her legs up, rubbing her face and starts crying. I pick her up and she’ll go back to sleep, then I put her back down. This repeats several times before I end up falling asleep with her in my arms (me sitting up). She used to be able to do 4 hours for the first stretch. She can sleep no problem lying flat in her pram during the day for up to 3 hrs. Something is different at night but I don’t know what. So tired! 🙁

Sounds like sleep regression, it’s tough! Could you co sleep? That’s the only thing that got me through it. That and some gentle sleep training at around 5 months when I couldn’t handle it anymore!

Hi SS,
Yeah I feel like I am pretty much co-sleeping as every night I end up sleeping sitting up with her in my arms.
Think I will read up on better co sleeping positions as this is killing me!

Sounds a lot like my baby, at 10 weeks she was sleeping a 6-7 hour stretch in her bedside crib and now she will start off in it for maybe 2 hours but then she will wake every 90minutes and will only go back to sleep on me. It's exhausting. She's also throwing her legs up in the air and smacking them down. I think maybe this has something to do with learning to roll over as this is what she does a lot during the day when she rolls onto her side. One night I woke up to her moving about and she had actually rolled over on to her front for the first time. They say when babies are developing new skills like this that's when their sleep regresses. Has your baby made any attempts to roll over OP?

I’m so sorry Ark - i’m new to this and have only just realised what OP stands for, apologies.
Yes she is very close to rolling over, you are right.
Have just continued to sleep sitting up with her in my arms, any time she fusses she nurses briefly. It’s awful but at least I am getting sleep. I don’t know how to stop. She’s getting heavy!
