Hi, I bought a bedguard and it says it is for a single bed but use it fr a double.
I figured that the only reason it says single is because there is a piece of metal at the end of a bit of fabric which is supposed to hang over and secure the whole thing ut as we lie on it together chances that it falls down/ detaches itself from teh ebd are very slim.
Been using it for ages now (about three months) on a double divan and had no problems, even at inlaws kingsize it was fine. I think it is more important that you look at the mattress size.

I have one from kiddicare but they don't seem to do it anymore but suppose they all work the same way.

I'm a bit late here, but babydan bedguard! That's what you need. I used it on our double for a few months, and on various beds in holiday cottages. Got it from "safetots" online. It was the only one I could find that was OK for slatted bed bases as well as divans (like you might get on holiday?)
