My 14 month old has just learned to stand up in his cot (has been slow mover!) and now as soon as we put him down at bedtime, he just stands up and starts crying until we go in and resettle him. This can go on for half hour before he goes to sleep. He used to be great - we would put him down awake and he would just talk abit until he fell asleep. Hate him going to sleep upset.. Also he used to wake up at 6.15ish but was quite happy to lie until 7 until we went in to get him. Now is waking at 6 every morning and standing up right away and screaming. Has anyone else had this - please tell me it's a phase!!

Ds (also 14 months) is different to your ds in that he was never able to get himself off to sleep (we rocked him for a year like fools) but the standing thing made him even worse. We have got past this by staying in his room and laying him down every time he stands or sits up and saying "lay down". He's twigged now that there's no point making the effort to get up as he will always be laid down again, so just lays down and chills out when we put him in the cot. Not sure you'll be able to do much about the morning tho, ds stands up and shouts the second he wakes up too

We're at this stage with my 10 1/2 month old. I've no advice as he is currently asleep in DH's arms as we speak but I'll be watching this thread with great interest. It's definitely related to learning to stand though - he was a great sleeper at night until a couple of weeks ago. Grrr.

I was so relieved to read your posts though there's not many responses. My dd (14 months too !!) Has just worked out how to stand up in cot. Since she's been walking (about 2 m) has been napping really well 1hr am and 1.5-2 pm much better than the 20 mins 3x day of before !!

Unlike your dd peeka, falls asleep ok at night but won't nap in day - since Thurs dd had no naps during day as just stood screaming when in cot!! Can't carry on like this she's exhausted and grumpy.

Any further advice since Wed - how have your dd been. I'll try sbue's tips !! Any other help?

Thank you for your responses! Things have been improving - we have been going in each time and lying him back down and just saying goodnight and leaving straight away. We are still having to go in but it is getting less so I think he is getting the message. Here's hoping anyway! Just when you think you are getting things sussed, they have a new trick....
