Sleep

If you bed-shared to 1 year, when did you stop and how?

I have fallen into bed-sharing with my 9 month DD. I exclusively breastfed (she is a bottle refuser) and I realised it was easier feeding lying down. My little poppet then realised it was nice and warm and snuggly next to mummy and she then became a cot refuser. She has been sleeping with us for several months now.

DD is about to start nursery so I'm not going to try to get her into her own bed and room for a few months as nursery is going to be a big change for her.

I just wanted to hear what your experiences have been of moving little ones into their own room?

I know lots of people have success with floorbeds instead of cots, babyproofing the room. A ‘golden’ age is around 18 months as some find it hard before and then after they’re too aware of what is going on.

We did it at 19 months, went from co sleeping to sleeping in a bed in her own room overnight...i was more upset than her I think .
Was sleeping through in her own bed within a week.....makes up for the fact that she would still feed 3/4 times a night until that point.
Good luck....it won't be as bad as you think.

Did it at 20 months, moved to own room with a big bed and bed guard. I generally end up in his bed with him as he still wakes and wants to feed at night and I am usually too knackered to go back to my room.

So basically still cosleeping just in his bed... not sure that is at all helpful sorry!
