How many times does your newborn wake at night?

I have two week old baby. Generally he is a pretty good sleeper so far.

I just wondered what rate of wake ups in the night is 'normal' or 'average' for newborns? Just wanted to see what others experience is compared to my own really :)

At 2 weeks I spent far more time awake in the night than I did asleep. I think she fed maybe every 2 hours, and took at least an hour to an hour and half to settle, so I’d grab half an hour to an hour here and there. She would fall asleep in my arms and wake every single time I put her down and we’d be back at square one. shudders
Then it increased to 3 hours or so and she became easier to go down after a feed.
By 10ish weeks it was all much easier and quicker.
Seems a lifetime ago and she’s only 16 weeks!

Ds1 woke every 2 hours from when he got out of scbu at 5 days old until he was over 2. Ds2 is 12 weeks and wakes once or twice a night usually at 4 & 6am, we go to bed at 11pm and he just wakes briefly transitioning from asleep on me on the couch to asleep beside me in the bed.

DD is 2 weeks old and has a feed at 11 then wakes around 3 and again at 7.

I know I am a jammy bastard. Both my other 2 were exactly the same. I take no credit whatsoever.

On the flipside I breastfeed constantly throughout the day

@Situp that is pretty much our sleep schedule at the moment, well on a good night anyway. Sometimes he randomly wants an extra feed in there somewhere.

My little madam, 2 weeks, wants feeding every 3 hours. If we give her more in a bottle she throws up.

Yesterday she refused to have anything other than 10 min power naps all bloody day then slept from 11pm - 4.30.

Was spoilt with first DD who fed every 4 hours and slept 11-7 by 6 weeks and rarely cried.

@ijustwannadance my DS slept literally all day yesterday, from about 11am til 4pm with just a tiny weird 1oz feed in the middle so of course last night he was all over the place, when usually its pretty standard. I feel he is lulling me into a false sense of security

Yep. They should give us advanced notice so that we can try to sleep too!

This is like asking how long is a piece of string. They’re all very different. Mine at two weeks woke twice between 11-7 - she is now one years old and wakes about 15 times a night! 😴

My 7 week old sleeps for about two hours at the beginning of the night - from 10 to 12ish.... then wakes every 30 mins to an hour after that. Plus he’ll only go into his cot for that first sleep, after that he wants to lie on me. I am so tired - I’m really hoping he’ll get better fairly soon!

Mine woke every 2hours or so at newborn ish but hated his moses basket so we ended up buying a new bed for him. He was then doing 1 feed in the night from about 8 weeks. At 11 weeks he started waking every 45min to an hour . Seems to change every time you think its settled although is currently stuck

Dc5 is 4 weeks and like my others did waking every 1-2 hrs to be fed and in between that needs changing 2-3 times

My baby is 2 weeks old and wakes twice in the night. We go to bed about 10 atm, and she wakes at 2am and 5am ish then we sleep through till 8am

As a newborn, he was waking initially at 10pm/1am/4am to feed. He dropped the 10pm feed quite quickly. Then he was up at either 12am/3am or 1am/4am.

Now, at 4 months, he can be up every 1-2 hours. Yay, for sleep regressions, teething and getting stuck after rolling 😒
