I can't cope anymore

I'm so tired I could scream I'm literally an angry mess. I swore at ds today as he wasn't listening and I just couldn't take it anymore. What can I do to stop being so short tempered when tired?

Dd is 16 months and is waking for hours during the night, last night was 2-5, night before 1-4, it's been happening for almost a week and I can't cope anymore.

Today she has woken screaming in her cot and she's fallen back asleep on the sofa but if I try to put her in her cot she wakes and I start all over again. She's ended up in her buggy by 3.30 ish last few nights (stayed awake but chilled for another hour or so). I don't feel comfortable both sleeping on the sofa in case I squish her or she wakes and I don't and she causes havoc.

I'm feeling so helpless. Any ideas?

Stupid question, but is she teething?

Also, will she sleep in with you in your bed?

Funnily enough I can see something under the gum but not near cutting point yet..does that mean I have to just grin and bear it til it's over?!


We did try her in the bed with us a few nights ago but she kept wriggling up and got her head stuck between the bars on the head board (first time we've ever co slept) her cot is in our room as we have the smallest flat ever so she's only about a meter from our bed anyway.

I don't know what to do now, she's asleep on the sofa but if I try to move her she wakes and screams. But I can't sleep if she's on the sofa.. urgh

If it could be teeth then I'd give Calpol and a numbing gel to see if that helps.

Is there any way you can make yourself comfortable on the floor by the sofa for now?

I agree nest on the floor by the sofa. I'm sure you'll wake if she does....however I'm a really light sleeper so i wake if a sparrow farts outside the window!! Do you sleep really deeply? Have you given calpol? My ds1did similar when he was teething. Do you have a dp or someone who could take over for a little while if you are finding yourself getting angry? I've got a wide awake ds2 on my hands....so you're not alone.

It's not OTT to cry! Sleep deprivation is shitty, there's a reason it's used as a method of torture. Plus, it's harder to think about everything, you just get stuck in the moment, logical thought becomes hard to do. Hopefully you can get comfortable and catch some sleep.
