13 month sleep help

My baby always slept 7-7 with no wake ups during the night and would wake up babbling in the morning. She's 13 months now and in the last few months she's waking up a couple of times a night crying and it takes ages to get her back to sleep plus she wants to start the day at 5am! When she wakes she literally stands at the end of the cot screaming and breaking her heart. She cries every time she wakes up even for naps etc. It's really getting me down. I just don't know what's changed. Any advice welcome.

My nearly 13 month old also cries every time he wakes up. Tho this is usually confined to a decent morning wake up and after his naps. This morning he was standing up in his cot crying. I keep telling myself its his way of letting us know he is awake..."now come and get me!".

Hi Fate she has 2 naps normally from 8am-9.30 on the mornings she is up at 5 and then another hour around 1pm. This is variable depending on what we are doing. Daytime sleep everyday is 2.5 hours over 2 naps and not sleeping past 3pm.

I would say that is not fought sleep in the afternoon. 2pm through to bedtime is a long time. In fact 8.5 hours from 9.30am with only 1h sleep is a recipe for exhaustion in itself.

It is perfectly reasonable to have two 1.5h-2h naps a day. So one option would be your keep the naps as they are, but some to resettle baby so that the 1pm nap goes through to 3pm.

If that's not possible, you would be better to limit the morning nap in order your extend the afternoon nap. Try for a 9-9.30 half hour power nap and then a 12.30pm nap with the aim of it being until around 3pm.
