Anyone kept baby in their room longer than 6 Months?

LO room is on a different floor to our bedroom and at the moment our 6 month old is still waking during the night for a bottle and most recently due to teething and colds and coughs 😩
We have the space to put his big cot in our bedroom so are considering doing that for a while at least until he is sleeping through consistently as going up and down every half hour all night to him in his own room is already making me feel exhausted 😂🙈
Anyone else done this? Any advice?
Thanks 😊

My baby is about to turn 7 months. She's still in with me just because I like her where I can hear her easily (I'm a very heavy sleeper).

For various reasons I moved her out of the moses basket and into the big cot at 2 months. It's a slight squeeze having it in my room but not too bad.

We had all three in our room in our bed until they were 2 or 3, but I don't think that's what you want to hear! I was EBF all of them so kept as all sane. It was DHs idea.

Yep. DD was about 18 months when she transitioned to being in her room more than ours.

Yeah, 6 months is recommended at the minimum, not the maximum amount of time they stay in with you.
At 6 months mine were both still up 4-5 times a night. No way I was traipsing into a different room.

DD was in our room until she was 18mths old due to being at risk of SIDS.

It was lovely and so easy for wake ups. We put her to bed every night at her bedtime so she didn't get used to us being there as she fell asleep. At 18 months she went straight into her own room and because she was in the same cot the transition was fine.

Yes we're a week away from 11 months and our little girl is in her cot next to our bed
She's not a great sleeper and like you we have our room on a separate floor so it's crucial to us atm!

DD 10 months is still in with us because of laziness on our part. She doesn’t really wake in the night any more but we haven’t got round to getting her room sorted and DP says he will miss her grinning at us in the morning.

I go back to work after a Christmas though and ideally I want her in her own room before that happens.

Do whatever suits you and your family best.

Don't have any experience but watching as I'm considering possibly keeping DD in with us longer than 6 months!

I kept my DS in my room until 12 months because up until that point we still had a lot of wake ups at night and it was easier to settle him from my bed rather than walk backwards and forwards between rooms. Once he was settling more easily and sleeping longer stretches we moved him Smile

About 11 months until she stopped waking overnight because it hurt less to just grab a child than to traipse around the house...

DS moved out gradually between 9 and about 15 months months, DD is an awful sleeper and still with us at 13 months because we don't want her waking DS. We had DS's bug cot in with us and his travel cot in his room. We used to put him down in his cot, and then collect him at first wake up and he'd stay with us after that. It meant that we didn't have to creep around in the dark getting ready for bed, and as he started sleeping better he gradually spent more and more time in his room until he was there all night when he started sleeping through. We'd like to do the same with DD and are hoping her sleep will improve enough once the next set of teeth are through that we have a chance....

My 9 month old is still in with us. He wakes frequently and this way I can pick him up/pat his back without properly getting out of bed. We put our older DS in his own room at 7 or 8 months and I ended up to-ing and fro-ing between the rooms all night. Exhausting! This time I'm leaving it until he's reliably sleeping through. Do what you need to do to stay sane.

3 years - we lived in a one-bedroomed flat and there was nowhere else. I know of someone who is in a one-bed flat with two children aged 8 &4. Needs must and all that...

Dd2 was in with us until 13 months because it took that long to clear out her bedroom and make it useable. Although it is just next to our room and she still comes in to bed with us every night at almost 4. I value my sleep. If she’s to be on a different floor and still waking I would keep her in with you.

Yep my nearly 9 months old girl is still in with us. She will (probably) be our last baby and I can't bear to move her out of our room

Ds is still in my bed at 25mo 🙄. He still panics at night if he wakes up and realises he's alone so he'll stay with me until he's ok with being by himself.

DD1 was 3 when we moved her.
No immediate plans to ship D2 (18m) out.
Do what works for you.

Yes, but DH moved out for several months after the first few months of sharing. He's a light sleeper so left me to it till DC went into own room.

We moved dd into her own room at about 9 months, and she sleeps well in there. She's 18 months now and does still sleep in with us fairly regularly - if she's ill, teething, unsettled etc. I'm pretty relaxed about it - we only moved her out at 9 months because she didn't fit in her next to me comfortably any more, and we couldn't fit her big cot in our room. These days, she just snuggles down in between us and it's lovely!!
