Alternatives to cot bumpers?

I know cot bumpers and anything else in cots are are a SIDS risk, but my DS is still in the flailing-arms stage and keeps waking himself up banging his hands on the sides of his crib.
Apart from gloves, does anyone have any suggestions?

There are alternative cot bumpers - Airwrap and Breathable Baby. Have heard very good reviews. They are breathable and allow good air circulation. They also compress when baby stands on them so they can't use them to get a leg up and climb out of cot grin
We haven't used them so can't say from personal experience but it's something I will probably look into getting when DS eventually goes into a cot smile

Either that or swaddle/swaddle bag things (like the love to dream swaddle). Depends on how old your DS is though!

How old is baby?

Because swaddle would be the best solution to flaying arms if under 3 months.

Honestly? There are no safe bumpers. Gro bags stop the legs through the bars thing. They grow out of this phase quite fast if they’re allowed to figure it out for themselves. 3 kids here. We never used bumpers or any alternative. They definitely did get stuck on a few occasions. They move on to the next annoying sleep-related habit pretty fast...

Thanks all he's 12 weeks and hates being swaddled. I'm wondering whether to just put him in his big cot rather than the crib so he won't be abe to reach the sides...

Bumpers are also a strangulation risk (so even the breathable ones are risky).
Honestly, all babies do this. I wouldn't worry.
