STUPID CLOCKS!!!!!!!

Anyone else suffering from the clock change? Got up at 4.20 yesterday.. and just got up at 3.40 now!!!
She absolutely will not go back to sleep once she is up so I’ve no idea how she’s going to adjust. She used to get up around 5/6 and despite keeping to her normal routine and bed time yesterday, were still up super early!
Dreading today now 😭😭😭

How old is she? My 2.10yo DS1 and 5mo DS2 were both up at 4 yesterday and today DS1 woke up crying at 3, and DS2 was up at 4 again Angry he's just having a second feed and will hopefully go back to sleep .

Dark memories of when DS1 was a baby and we had to deal with the clocks going FORWARD during the four month regression Sad

Bless you! She just turned 1, my toddler is almost 3 and has been absolutely fine with the clock change, even had a lay in yesterday!!
I tried to take baby back up to bed but she was having none of it, so I’m trying to lounge on the floor with a blanket while she attacks me 😭😂
She is suuuuuuper clingy so she follows me around every second without being tired, so she’s even worse when she hasn’t had enough sleep and clings to me every second.
I hope it doesn’t last too long!!! Did you manage to keep them up til normal bedtime still? It throws your whole day off doesn’t it!

Ugh I'm with you was 4.20 yesterday and bang on 5 today so not quite as bad I have a 1 yr old and 3 yr old and they are both as bad as each other!
Give it about 5 days things will get back to normal.

My son usually gets up at half four no matter what I’ve tried so the last couple of days it’s been half three. Absolutely awful. No help sorry but you’re not alone

Isn’t it exhausting! Everyone at work was banging on about getting an extra hour in bed while I was dreading exactly this.. baby certainly didn’t disappoint 😅
I really hope they all fall back into a better pattern soon.. mummies need to sleep too!

Oh mol1628, I feel for you! The worst part is it makes the day so long!
Morning nap for me usually falls around 8.30-9, which seems a year away when you’re up at that time.
Will you get to rest during the day at all?

No no rest during the day unfortunately my 2 year old (who got up two hours later thankfully) doesn’t nap anymore and 4 year old won’t either. But I’ve roped my mum into coming swimming with us all today so the plan is to exhaust them and put them to bed at normal time tonight and hope we get more sleep.

4.10 yesterday and 5 today. Does that mean tomorrow will be 6?!

I know that feeling, my 2yo doesn’t sleep anymore either and 1yo used to have 2, 2hr naps, but her second seems to have reduced to 45mins or so and a struggle to last til bedtime 🤦🏽‍♀️
I’m supposed to be at lectures today but I’m so tired I think I might stay home and try to rest when for an hour or so.
Unsurprisingly 1yo is whinging and crying at me cus she’s been up for so long already and is tired! 😑

4:30 for my 9mo old the last 2 days 😴 He’s having to nap by 7:30!

Only saving grace is we’re going back to Europe next weekend so hopefully 4:30 will become 5:30!!

Struggled to keep the 3mo up til 5pm last night! WeHe doesn't sleep through but got lucky in that he wasn't up for good until 5.30am I guess 😴

All this talk of babies and toddlers dealing with the clock change...

This morning my 13 year old was having a shower at 5.30am. Despite being told numerous times yesterday to change the time on her alarm clock, she didn't. So when her usual school day 6.30 alarm went off this morning she went in the shower. Only it was 5.30am! 😴

So the clock change issues don't stop out of the baby/toddler years!

Goodness it’s not just me at all is it!
Haha FATEdestiny yours did make me giggle 😂 but at least she was late eh? Haha,

So far I have made t through the day keeping to routines, but my 1yo is crying after sleeping for only 30 mins on her second nap! I’ve no idea why as she isn’t big enough (I didn’t think) to be up all day without another nap and she will now struggle to make it til bedtime!

I dunno why they fight so hard.. I’d love 2 naps a day 😅

5.44 wake up call here today, although fortunately DS was happy enough to burble away to himself in his cot for a good while. I could not get back to sleep though.

We also have ddog, who has a devilishly accurate clock when it comes to dinner time and is annually horrified by the idea that dinner arrives an hour later than normal Shock So we get it in the neck at both ends of the day in this house Confused

BlankSpace1 · 30/10/2017 15:43

Ah no! I hate being stuck awake when you want to sleep! Unfortunately mine was the other way around, I wanted to go back to sleep and dd has other ideas 😄

Haha, love that even your dog had a strop about it! Little monsters!

My almost 6 months old has slept through since about 6 weeks. She usually sleeps 12+hours but was up this morning from 3am until 4 am. She's been hard work all day crying constantly and sleeping on and off. Hoping it's just going to take a couple of days to adjust then be back to normal 😕

SnugglySnerd · 30/10/2017 15:48

Speech glad it's not just me struggling with 4am starts and tired grumpy babies. It already feels like it will never end. It will get better won't it? Hopefully we'll before the clocks go forward again!

You guys are not alone! The worst part is dealing with the day when they’re so tired isn’t it?
Sounds like your baba is usually a good sleeper though!!

And I certainly hope it gets better before the clocks change.. I had the same thought earlier haha

Yes she is. I'm a single parent of two and the first few weeks with her were horrendous as she didn't sleep. I've always been so anxious about going back to that and after today it's hit me like a ton of bricks and all I can think is what if this is it every day now. I've not managed to do a thing all day because she's just cried and napped in my arms it reminds me of how much I struggled at the start. She's trying to fall asleep now going to get her ready for bed and hopefully tomorrow will be different. I can see from the posts on here that the early starts are a daily occurrence for some people so I know I should be grateful sorry if I've came across the wrong way.

Sorry for all going through this FlowersGinGinGin

But can I ask, if you do have a child who gets up at 4ish and doesn’t nap either, how do they function?

I thought young children needed more hours than us. If they’re put down at say 8 and are up at 3.30, how do they get enough sleep themselves? Blush

Sorry to hijack thread, DS on his way and I’m bricking this sort of thing

My 7yo was up and dressed for school by 5.30 this morning. I growled at him to leave me alone until at least 6.30 so he dressed his 4yo sister, gave her breakfast and put cartoons on. It does get better!

Blue unfortunately their behaviour deteriorates the less sleep they have. DS1 stopped napping as soon as DS2 arrived five months ago Angry

Funnily enough, I'm not very nice either, when I've not had enough sleep. So it's been joyful in our house.
