Why does DD tense and do other weird stuff?

So DD is 16 months old. Sometimes when she's trying to sleep (nap or bedtime) she crosses her legs and clasps her hands and sort of tenses up, stretches her legs out and squeezes clasped hands while grunting. Sometimes it takes her a while and she gets quite red and sweaty in the process. She doesn't do this all the time so I'm really confused as why she does it at all. Any advice???

Hi would film that and show it to her paediatrician as it sounds a bit odd to me

I could have written a similar post..

My DD did this from 6 months old. We had our health visitor observe her, took her to the GP and ended up filming her and showing to a paediatrician at hospital.

DD did it in her sleep and whilst playing (nursery, at home etc.) the hospital told us it was behavioural confused Fast forward 12 years and she still does it occasionally. She can't tell us why, but it happens less so when she sleeps and over the last few years we have realised it is when she is under stress. I used to teach in her primary school and would catch her relaxed from the chest up whilst sat at her desk but her legs would be rigid.

Coincidence or not... but when she was six months old I was diagnosed with cancer and my mum moved in with us to support both myself, husband and children. I do wonder if that played a part.

Film her and show it to your GP.

Thank you for all your replies. Sounds like I should be more concerned than I was. Will take the advice and film her and show GP.
