Bastarding 4 month sleep regression

Gah! Just in for a 3.30am rant.

DD2 has previously been a great sleeper. She’s ebf and usually wakes just once a night for a feed, bloody nirvana compared to DD1 at the same age.

BUT she’s now 17 weeks and gradually her sleep is getting worse and I’m getting so frustrated!!

Tonight she fell asleep at 5.30 in the wrap while I was cooking dinner. I assumed it was for a nap but she woke at 7.30 and went straight back to sleep after a feed. Since, she has woken at 9.30, 11, 1 and 3. She has a short 5-10 min feed then usually falls back asleep on the boob and so the y me continues.

DD1 is 3 and still wakes through the night so ‘this too shall pass’ isn’t offering me much comfort st the moment!

Snap! My 17 week old is exactly the same :-( he used to sleep through the night now he’s up 3 or 4 times a night and wide awake at 3 am hence me also being awake!

Yes... Happened to me at 4 months too. DS is now 6 months and his sleep has still not recovered. Went from sleeping through to feeding four times a night, gradually, so now I'm trying to cut back on the night feeds. I feel your pain, it's exhausting and I worry about when it will improve!

DS2 is 20 weeks and doing the same thing. He has a dummy and has discovered how to take it out and play with it but not how to put it back in!

I’ve been up at 2, 3:30 and now!

DS1 will be up at 6Confused

Think I might try more daylight feeds in the vague hope that will work

My baby is 19 weeks old and for the past couple of weeks has been waking often at night and not napping much. Am knackered and just hope this soon passes. It will, won't it?

That’s her awake again, JOY! I’m a monster when I don’t have much sleep, the toddler will probably bare the brunt of it tomorrow if she’s not behaving.

Luckily DD2 is a delight (most of the time) during the day, although if her naps go to shit too I think I’ll just leave.

I’m waiting for someone to come on and say it disturbed their DC’s sleep for a few nights then they started sleeping like a champ again. That person exists, right??

Oh god I hope that person exists!

DS1 woke up at 5:30 and now DS2 is up again.

Thank god DS1 is a nursery today so I can nap (please god say I can nap)

My children clearly have some sort of conspiracy against me sleeping.

Can I hand my notice in?

@IheartCaptainHolt oh what’s I wouldn’t give for a nap!

DD2 woke at 6.45 so I kicked nudged DH to go downstairs with her. He’s just brought her back up for s feed and DD1 up now too.

I’ve got to take DD1 to her dance class this morning then there’s some kind of play/read bus visiting the town that we are going to this afternoon

It’s the school hols here so nursery for DD1 and no napping for me!

Hi OP! Mine has never been a great sleeper but for me the 4 month regression was the worst. I felt like it would last forever but it lasted about a week for us xx

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/10/2017 08:25

@SleepForTheWeek DH left for work at 6:45 so no further help from him. DS1 is only 2 so thankfully I don’t need to factor in school holidays.

I am now back in bed after the nursery run. The dog is now majorly pissed off that she’s not getting her Wednesday morning walk.

Have dug out the love to dream swaddle thing to try solve the taking-dummy-out-of-the-mouth issue. Fingers crossed

8 months old here and gone from sleeping 8-3/4am feed back to sleep til 7/8 am, (from about 6 weeks to 4 months) to waking twice, then three times, and often many many more. Sorry. Only this week seems to be a slight improvement.

Please tell me I am not the only one relying on assorted sugary delights to keep awake. Flying saucers and rainbow buttons with a Tangfastic chaser.

All because I daren't have a strong coffee lest the caffeine transfers during breastfeeding and worsens the nights.

I snack all. Day. Long. It’s what keeps me going!

DD2 still isn’t bloody sleeping, she’s on and off the boob like s yo-yo and squealing with delight. The cheek of it!

Morning! I had a stretch of 8-4 then one feed and up for the day at 8 around 12 weeks...now it's anyone's guess. Woke up at midnight and 3 to feed, then up at 4 to fart lustily. now snoozing on his tum ..but too scared to leave him like that.

hate this getting babies to sleep thing. so miserable.

sacgonflable · 19/10/2017 04:31

I am going to give him until 5-6 months then sleep train i think. can't cope with this indefinitely! but feel he is too young atm.

@IheartCaptainHolt oh my god the love to dream swaddle!!!! How have I missed this!!!! Dd is18weeks on Saturday and what I wouldn’t give for a nights sleep! Even some long day naps (when we’re not out with buggy as that’s not super conducive to mammy sleeping!). So tired Confused

I’m so sorry not sorry to hear others are going through the same.

I got DH to take DD2 at 10.30 as I was losing the will to live. The next thing I know it’s 2.30 as she’s in the side sleeper waking up, so at least I got 4 hours uninterrupted sleep.

DD1 woke at 3.30 so had to go get her and bring her in with us, and DD2 woke at 5.20 but is sleeping again after a feed.

I’m hoping that’s us until the morning. Surely!

Just joining this- dd was 4 months exactly and decided to celebrate by waking every hour i think ( the night seemed to go on forever). Not crying but whining so was resolved with her dummy and ewan. Will obviously see how it goes- might just be a bad night....but my question is is there anything i can do about it? Or is it just something to ride out until/if it ends?!

Report
IheartCaptainHolt · 19/10/2017 08:58

I put an extra blanket on DS2 last night and he slept better so maybe that helped. He likes to me much more wrapped up at night than DS1.

It’s all a bit hit and miss/lucky guesses though.

Before I had kids, whenever I saw someone with two or more I thought to myself “they obviously know what they are doing/have their shot together with the whole parenting situation”
